Pumped in music isn’t all bad but the constant DJ’ing is too much

I guess I'm counting it all as the same thing.

Nah, the pumped in music in next level over the past few season. Sometimes they play right up to the kick off and drown out the "War Eagle, Hey!" They play over the band too.

Yea, this has bugged me too. I generally don't have a problem with pumping in music, it can really add a lot to some big moments when done well. This though is an issue. It doesn't have to happen every second that play isn't going on and the DJ guy needs to understand the gameday traditions and stuff to know when to turn it off. He'll play over the band a lot too when they are doing different set items. When it is kickoff time, once the kicker is going to put the ball down, turn the music off.

I’m excited, but it’s not anything like it used to be for me.

Just because the stadium has big speakers that can be really, really loud, doesn't mean that have to step on the crowd and the run-up to play. That crap is annoying.

Game got to be too much about money. I still enjoy watching, but it will never be what it was.

This is the answer.

I used to follow recruiting to learn about the players and culture. Now everyone is a mercenary

ditto

College sports are heading the way of the newspaper with it's current direction... and it'll be something different.

Excitement for season?

Excitement's not been earned. I'm at the show me point. Pro athletes have to perform. Coaches have to earn their keep.

I just don’t have faith in college football anymore. I’m going to sound lame, but I might watch maybe 5 games a year now. I used to watch football all Saturday long. That’s just where I’m at, doesn’t have anything to do with the success of Auburn, it’s just lost the luster it used have. And as we all know, the snowball effect is real, it won’t get better. Spend your Saturdays doing something meaningful.

Listening to the hype at the beginning of the season I feel like this

a game or two in I feel like something like the team, coaches, players etc does this to me.

But during the season I get to feeling like this

Then at a point in the season I am like this...

Is it basketball season yet?

Looking forward to it. The dead summer period of sports sucks. Would be nice to be relevant in football again to some degree. Would like to beat Georgia and Bama at some point again.

Interested to see how the QB situation plays out.

We supposedly could have the best team we've had in a long time, but they'll find a way to go 6-6 or 7-5.

Just cannot put anything into it these days with the NIL and sterile corporate tailgating. Went nearly 30 years without missing a home game and throwing big tailgates for 20 years for 6 to 7 games a season. I gave up season tickets 7 or 8 years ago and tailgating a couple of years ago when the lot we used was converted to pay parking that would not accommodate our tailgate trailer. Last year I watched maybe 3 games start to finish but spent most gamedays on the beach just checking in on the score every 30 minutes or so. I can't name 5 players currently on the roster and have absolutely zero interest in AU football. I'm sure if they get off to a good start and actually win some SEC games that I will watch more but my expectations are so low with Freeze at the helm that it would be almost impossible for the team to be worse than I expect them to be.

Lord I hate them throwing up all those white tents. Monetizing it took all of the character away.

I remember the first years after graduating (MS 89), looking forward to the various CFB mags - buying 3-4 of them and reading them. KNowing much of the info could be out of date by fall.

Haven't been to a home game in 3 years but miss the tailgates on campus almost to the stadium. Just felt like a large family reunion of sorts...

Over the years, it has all been pushed out for security and profit reasons...

But I still like the feel of a home game once in the stadium - piped in music notwithstanding.

I still watch most every game - mostly at a bar with a couple of friends - more of an excuse to see them and eat lol

That would be our best record since 2019.

Wow.

I wonder what kind of raise CHF will get after the winning season?

If we beat Bama or UGA, CHF will get a raise.

“Market rate, blah, blah, blah.”
