Raiders rookie kicker Daniel Carlson just set the franchise record for single-season FG%, going 16-of-17 (94.1%) in his 10 games with the team. Highest-drafted kicker in April, cut two games into NFL career after 0-for-3 game. Broke Sebastian Janikowski's record from 2012.

And the vikings ended up missing the playoffs. Guess they had more problems than a kicker

Glad the Vikings missed the playoffs.

I don't understand drafting a kicker, then cutting him w/ one bad game. he was a rookie. I can see it if he continued to miss.

Oakland showed he can kick with the best of them.

When you think Kirk cousins is your savior, you’re not thinking clearly

A lot of Vikings fans are blaming this on Carlson. “If only Carlson made a chip shot” etc, etc

If only the Vikings OL could block somebody.... if only the didn’t get gashed in the run game... if only their 120 million QB could complete passes.

With the amount of talent in Minn, Mike Zimmer should be thrown in jail for only winning 8 games.

I think he struggled in the preseason as well

I'm with you on the logic, but the bucs tried to keep Aguayo way longer than they should have

Going to Oakland probably was a great change of scenery for Carlson.

I posted on the MSB after he got cut that Carlson would bounce back and still have a long career and got downvoted to hell

Dan Bailey has still done well for the Vikings so I guess there's no reason really for them to "regret" it yet, but frick the Vikings anyway

I understood why Minnesota did it but I think they will regret the decision

The interesting thing is that I’m reading he used his brief time off to go see a kicking guru to help his mechanics. Amazing that that dude did more to help him than the special teams staff at a multi billion dollar franchise

Also the coach, Zimmer, was kind of a dildo on TV when releasing him. Hope Carlson hits a game winner against the Vikings one day.

I also read that article where he said he needed to work on some things and tweak his approach but didn't have time to do that with the Vikings....glad it worked out for him and for him to know exactly what he needed to work on was great. He stated that he needed to work on it while at AU but just never did....

That's putting it pretty lightly. He destroyed a kid on ESPN for missing kicks.

That he did.

They said when we signed him he altered his approach something like a full step quicker to his kick.

He's been automatic since and we call him legatron (not my choosing).

Still can't believe Minny gave up on him as a 5th round pick after just 2 weeks instead of working with him. Stupid asses.

I'd rather live in Nevada or California anyway.

Kickers/Punters have personal coaches. Special teams staffs don't normally teach kicking mechanics

Scott Fountain for example was not teaching Carlson/Parkey kicking technique at AU

Yep, most handle formations and recruiting. There’s not a single ST coach in the country that you actually want teaching mechanics.
