Well now there’s a new take that needed it’s own thread. It’s only been mentioned by just about every poster here.

Best part is like a week ago somebody said something about Finley running with the 1s and TTs responded with something like “it’s too early to freak out over who’s running with the 1s. Calzada will start”

Then a week later he just ignores it

A week is a long time. I still expect ZC to start, but he needs to make a move like the OP states. The scrimmage this weekend could be that move. He needs as many reps with the #1 unit as he can get.

Thanks for keeping up with my post history though, sweetheart.

For the record coach said in his press conference that all the QBs are starting on different days this week, and to not put much thought into it.

just remember that our first two games are Mercer and San Jose State..

Those will determine the QB for the season

IOW, don't have a cow no matter what happens the first game and a half - and I suspect that could be the limit of how long it could take to get the rotation for QB

If TJ is the best option then TJ will play. Harsin doesn’t have the luxury of bringing someone along, he’s got to play the best guy every snap. I’ll cross my fingers and hope for the best of it is indeed TJ. My guess is that we’ll experiment a bit in the first two games but that Calzada will end up being QB1.

It sounds like Harsin loves TJ's command and knowledge of the offense, but I'm just not sure how that can overshadow the reality that last year TJ slowed the offense and made it more inefficient in my view.

Of course, I've heard some suggestions that they're trying to motivate Calzada to pair his arm advantage with knowledge of the O, but if TJ was that much better last night then I'm not sure that's all there is to it.

Guys we aren’t USC circa 2004 or Bama circa 2015-2020, lol.

We don’t have multiple SEC starter type Qbs on this team most likely.

If we don’t have a CLEAR starter before game 1, that’s not good. At all

I hope TJ has made a lot of strides also, but let’s be realistic here he wasn’t reading defense AT ALL last year. The chances of him going from where he was last year to a competent SEC starter reading defense is slim to none. So if the other guys aren’t beating him out, it’s not good

It will not be calzada. He looked terrible. Threw a pick. Ashford looked the best today.

Bennett Durando

@BennettDurando
Bryan Harsin drops that freshman Holden Geriner was "firing the ball better than anyone" today.

"We're trying to do these drills, and Holden just comes out of nowhere and he's one of the best throwers I've coached."

Barring any legit improvement from TJ, or the light coming on for Robby, I think I’d prefer Holden get the job.

Valid opinion. He could end up being the future, and growing pains are easier to stomach in down years.

The great thing about down years is most get their chance to swing their bat at the piñata. May the futurest guy win.

We may wind up with no clear starter and just rotate quarterbacks in and out.

I saw a formation one time with 4 QBs in sort of a Notre Dame Box. They used spinning pirouettes often.
