I liked what I saw from TJ early. I’m not sure what to make of the picks. They can’t be good, but maybe he’s just feeling it out :/

Pat coached at Pinson right? I’ve recently been interested in how he is perceived throughout the ranks

Agreed. Aside from the picks, I thought he did well

Pat left Pinson when “5 star Bo” got on at Auburn under Gus.

Then Pat becomes Central Phenix City HC to be closer to his boy and recruiting grounds. Yielding nothing.

It did nothing to benefit Auburn. Shows how stupid our fricking boosters are.

I dont think the issue with TJ is how he played or the picks. IT is basically his ceiling. Which is about where he is now unfortunately. He is so still and lacks mobility, he is going to be a easy target for teams that have a pass rush with Auburns Offensive line. His lack of mobility and that line will be a recipe for disaster.

Ashford is raw and is super fast but he is very inexperienced and reading better defenses will be a steep learning curve. He is not just going to be able to come in and run the ball every play. He made a couple of very good passes but he was not being rushed.

I think we are right where we were last year. Same place, same problems. No real serviceable QB (Yet) and a schedule that is going to be brutal for them to learn. We started last year with 2 cupcakes and everyone got all pumped up then the real season started and it fell apart. Mostly due to those issues. QB and Oline

I think Harsin could be very effective if he could fill those two areas. Just not sure if he can do that. I am starting to wonder why Calzada came to Auburn. Is he really that bad where he cant compete against TJ? I dont remember watching him at AM but I thought he was better than that

It’s ok to be still in the pocket if u can make smart decisions and accurate passes- many of those guys have been super NFL qb’s.

TJ was bad. 9/14 with a TD and (2) INTs against Mercer. Ashford didn’t look much better throwing the ball, but at least he could run.

Time to dust off the old Notre Dame Box or triple option or possibly the wing T and line up Ashford/Tank/Hunter.

If Harsin continues to stick with TJ, it will be even more evidence that he is not a good coach and will earn his firing at the end of the season. Everyone knows what TJ is. No one would fault him for taking a chance with Robby. Robby doesn’t work out, I would tell Holden to get ready.

It is the only option he has unless he wants a total repeat of last season. It will be the same, maybe worse. LSU may beat us this year. Penn State could beat us as well.

He more or less has to try Robbie and Holden and even Calzada. You know what TJ is going to bring

His passes weren’t bad. He threw a couple of dimes. His field vision is terrible though. He’s like JJ. Has all the tools but cannot read a defense.

He did throw 2 bad passes for sure. He also threw a couple of dimes. I still think his legs gives Auburn the best shot, and Tank and Cowboy will benefit from defenses having to worry about him running too.

I still remember Marshall in the opener against WSU in 2013.
He was 10-19 for 99 yards with no TD no INT. Did not really look good throwing the ball and he had issues going further in the season, but he got better and it was enough.
I would like to see Robby get a chance to develop. It may not work, but it could.

I also remember a Wazzu defender saying "if Auburn finds a QB, they're going to be a real threat in the title picture this year"

That was always the biggest gripe about Gus: he didn't really know what he had offensively until about the 4th or 5th game of the year.

The QB at Washington St. said that. Said we would win a natty if we had a QB. Came damn close.

Connor Holliday was the QB that said that despite sucking himself. He might have 300 plus passing yards in a game but it routinely took him 50 passes and 3 interceptions to do so

That's just the Leach offense in general.

Will Rogers is more efficient and less turnover prone. Holliday just sucked .

Stories abound around TAMU that he was more hurt than they let on. Some said Jimbo broke him playing him that hurt. Not sure what was true but with the surgery etc...he doesn't seem to be that healed and I am not sure if it was him or his receivers last year.

TJ had a couple of picks yeah...otherwise he did ok. Harsin said in his presser that one was all on him and the other was mechanics of the throw. Said they got it cleared up. We will see how it goes.

I like Ashford and Holden not sure what will happen going forward but Holden (I believe) is the best passer of them all. Not sure about his running ability but he and Ashford are Raw and new...time will tell and I hope no matter what Harsin has more than this year on the plains. I think he is a good coach and can become a great coach here. I believe this group can develop a QB
