This game has probably pushed me towards apathy more than any other I think.

Just the unimaginative offense, defensive miscues, the OL penalties, using Cobb on the 4th down call, sticking with Byrum when struggling.... it just sucked what remained of my enthusiasm ....

What really irks me is the lack of progress in my eyes.... no part of the game seems to be improving over the 5 games....

sigh........

5-7 is about what we does

If we cannot agree that Durkin was great then that is the more pressing concern.

Me too, baw. Mee too.

It’s been 5 years of hearing we got things to work on without seeing anything worked on. That’s what I’m tired of.
Quit pissing on my boot and saying it’s raining. Someone needs to be a man, get up there and say it’s who we are (soft 6-6 program) and quit bullshitting all the die hards. I’m as optimistic as they come but I’m now feeling like this is who Auburn is gonna be from now on

I understand why Golesh brought so many of his key players to Auburn. It was supposed to make the transition easier for the entire team- coaches at each key position. Show proof of concept.

Some have done better than others. The receivers have been the bright spot. They are open on most play, Brown just can’t see them. The O linemen he brought haven’t been great. The QB play has been inconsistent at best.

The coaching has been the biggest disappointment. For all their talk about toughness, discipline, and consistency, we have seen anything but.

What’s really frustrating is that- the more things change, the more they stay the same. It doesn’t matter who our Coach is, who our QB is. We have looked the exact same for a decade now.

I started following Auburn in 1982. We were a hard nosed, tough, physical football team until we changed to the Spread. We were a top 15 all-time college football program. We were one of the “Big Six” SEC schools. Now? We’re a joke. No one is scared to play us.

This is my punishment for saying running the ball was boring and I wanted to see us start passing and scoring more.

I wasn’t aware at the time (early 2000s) we had been running the ball all those years because the 11th commandment of Auburn is ‘Thou shalt not pass

Updates on what Alex Golesh had to say after Auburn's 24-14 loss at Tennessee...

** Give UT credit, played better than we did in 2nd half. Real homefield advantage.

** Didn't play winning football on offense in 1st half. Kinda flipped in 2nd half. They went in 12 personnel in 2nd half and couldn't stop it.

** Too many false starts. Couldn't get into a rhythm in 1st half.

** The 4th and 1, felt like we had to go for it. Had momentum on offense.

** Story of game was rushing defense, lack of offense in 1st half and the penalties. Didn't end up on right side of small margins.

** 4th down call to pitch: Have a couple of year of running it inside. Thought they would chase it off the back side edge. That was the plan. Felt good about call. Golesh decision to go for it. The toss was something they had worked on as staff and planned throughout week.

** Trying to pin them deeper on kickoffs. Was short on one of the ones we tried to kick deep.

** All 7 OL penalties, we were on silent cadence. Didn't execute well. Felt good from a prep standpoint going in. Part of it was being backed up. I own that. It's on me. it's coaching.

** On punt returns, the plan wasn't to fair catch them if we could cover the gunner.

** Looked at pass, felt like spot was accurate on Neptune pass. They said it cleared replay. Didn't want to risk a timeout.

** Omar Mabson is a tough kid. Cobb got hit in back early, banged up, and couldn't go. Omar protected well.

** Offense after half, got in rhythm, no pre-snap penalties. Weren't as backed up. Ran it better. Couple of throws Byrum will want back.

** On missed tackles: 1st half was in the right spot -- 8 negatives, affected QB. When McIntyre came in and they got big (12 personnel) couldn't get ahead of them and get them in 3rd and long.

** We are critical of ourselves. We have a bunch of guys that will go fight. The details aren't always in sync. Got to get it consistent.

Thanks... not ready to listen right now

It sucked being on the left hash and being tucked up against the sideline. That was the thought process there.”

Golesh said he made the call to go for it on 4th down while the actual play was something that had been worked on in practice throughout the week.

“That was our play on 4th and 1 in a gotta-have-it situation to go to the play we went to,” said Golesh. I felt good about calling it, the 4th and 1 play. That exact situation we talk through. That’s a staff deal. We talk through it Wednesday and Thursday and practice it Thursday and Friday.”

The 4th and inches play call had nothing to do with game flow. Dont like this.

Joel Gordon, Auburn’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, is the primary (and sole designated) play-caller on game day in 2026.

Not good play calling or QB coaching. Play design was pretty mundane and stale. QB still holds the ball way too long with a line that is good for about 2 seconds, but play calling didn't have any thing that fit the 2 second window.

In the presser, Golesh said he thinks Brown was in a rhythm and seeing it well.

Well he surely can’t evaluate players then.

It’s going to be a long tenure

If our 4th and inches play was indeed designed on Wednesday then we have an idealistic coach running through ideas despite his own shortcomings with "analytics"

Cant be a robot play caller with a cheat sheet in game based on mid week film unless the play is automatic like a tush push. Apparently no game flow showed the coaches lateral runs were ineffective otherwise

I agree with almost everything you said other than it being a decade.

We finished 6-4 in 2020 and if we add the normal cupcakes we win 9 games. Granted everyone was tired of competing for an SEC championship every 3 years.

I’m not saying it wasn’t time for Gus to go but beat everyone we were supposed to beat most times and we fricked Bama up many times. But we are just in year 6 of sucking. I still blame the potato gang for the shite roster.

Apparently Jim Mora fired his DC after the 1st quarter today. We are just asking for some to set out a series.

If you keep showing up, nothing is going to change. Auburn folks don’t have the stomach for what is needed.

Can we get a snap count OC/QB. The clap is not it, hasn't been for the last few coaches either.
