Updates on what Alex Golesh had to say after Auburn's 24-14 loss at Tennessee...
** Give UT credit, played better than we did in 2nd half. Real homefield advantage.
** Didn't play winning football on offense in 1st half. Kinda flipped in 2nd half. They went in 12 personnel in 2nd half and couldn't stop it.
** Too many false starts. Couldn't get into a rhythm in 1st half.
** The 4th and 1, felt like we had to go for it. Had momentum on offense.
** Story of game was rushing defense, lack of offense in 1st half and the penalties. Didn't end up on right side of small margins.
** 4th down call to pitch: Have a couple of year of running it inside. Thought they would chase it off the back side edge. That was the plan. Felt good about call. Golesh decision to go for it. The toss was something they had worked on as staff and planned throughout week.
** Trying to pin them deeper on kickoffs. Was short on one of the ones we tried to kick deep.
** All 7 OL penalties, we were on silent cadence. Didn't execute well. Felt good from a prep standpoint going in. Part of it was being backed up. I own that. It's on me. it's coaching.
** On punt returns, the plan wasn't to fair catch them if we could cover the gunner.
** Looked at pass, felt like spot was accurate on Neptune pass. They said it cleared replay. Didn't want to risk a timeout.
** Omar Mabson is a tough kid. Cobb got hit in back early, banged up, and couldn't go. Omar protected well.
** Offense after half, got in rhythm, no pre-snap penalties. Weren't as backed up. Ran it better. Couple of throws Byrum will want back.
** On missed tackles: 1st half was in the right spot -- 8 negatives, affected QB. When McIntyre came in and they got big (12 personnel) couldn't get ahead of them and get them in 3rd and long.
** We are critical of ourselves. We have a bunch of guys that will go fight. The details aren't always in sync. Got to get it consistent.

Kentucky has passed us also.

None of that answers any real questions about why they are so bad on offense.

Yeah, no shite. How long did you spend on that?

Bad coach. Bad QB. And above all that, bad AD and PTB that don’t have a clue.

At least I won a poker tournament while watching the game. We are soft AF.
This team lacks discipline and physicalness and I blame that on coaching. WTF Brown?

Yeah he lost me on that comment. Dude is getting 3 mill. Golesh doesn’t have to act like he’s Ray Charles.

He defends his guys. That's for sure.
His press conferences are trash from now on though

He also just said Cobb got hit in the back early in the game which is why Mabson got the lions share of action after that.
Except, of course, on the most important offensive snap of the season thus far.

Maybe the Durka intentionally sabotaging conspiracy theory has merit. At least Summers Eve was smart enough to realize that wasn’t going to be a good marriage with DC that had his panties in a bunch about not getting the HC job.

Yeah that makes zero sense to me.
Mabson is by far more effective.
Cobb being injured and present on a critical down is dumbfounding unless Mabson simply never ran that play before.

Doesn't matter. Basically 17 points given up, 7 after at pick put the ball on our side of the field.
If you think giving up 17 points in Knoxville is a bad job, you are an idiot.
Plus the D basically scored 7 with the pick at UT's 20.

what do you do when your offense is created to run the football and everything builds off of that
You show yourself to be a competent coach and adjust your freaking offense. If we can't do anything when people stack the box against and shutdown our running game that's a coaching and play calling/system issue, not a talent issue.
And if that's the case he is never going to make it as a head coach in this league and we made another huge mistake hire. Which as the season gets farther and farther in is looking like more and more like the case.
Defending the stupidity of that 4th down call, saying Brown hasn't been inconsistent, and trying to say we had a rhythm on offense in the second half, rather than just breaking off a couple big runs. It doesn't do any good to say we have stuff to work on and be willfully ignorant of what is causing issues. The it's on me and we need to fix it stuff only goes as long as you fix it, and we haven't gotten better at anything this year.

Nobody put the loss at Durkin's feet you weirdo
He was alright but not much more

The lack of holding Brown accountable will lose fans really quickly.

How much more than net 10 points???

Tally up those missed tackles. Tally up the Autry penalties
shite adds up to a mediocre day against a mediocre offense with a backup QB
