Where I am today? Pissed off. I said it last year that we should sell our jersey. I'm sure most laughed and thought is was funny or clutched pearls and said, nooooooo muh tradition. I love tradition, but those days have been nuked to hell. It is just not the same. We should have been out getting an Apple or a Coca-Cola or a McDonalds or some huge world wide corporation to sponsor our jersey.
Now today, Ohio State is getting $17MM from JP Morgan Chase. We'll surely end up with Golden Flake for a fraction of that. But hey, we sold off a home game and will be getting rich off that!!

To be fair, i'd rather someone like OSU set the market first than us try and do so. I'm sure we won't be far behind.

I can see that strategy, but I don't think that works as well for us. Sadly, getting these large sponsors will have nothing to do with how good you are but how big a blue chip you are. I think our chance at a big boy sponsor like a McDonalds or something could be gone quick. Needed to be acting on this yesterday.
Also, your strategy works if you have someone in charge that knows what they hell they are doing. I don't think we have that.
ETA: ND just outdid Ohio St at almost $20MM. Wonder when we will get ours?

Notre Dame is with SoFi.
The Big 12 themselves signed a deal with Monster for 20 million for a patch on all the schools. And the NCAA only allows two patches.
Pete, you of all people should realize the opportunity with your diving in Mexico and your familiarity.
We can have two patches, how about the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Tons of cash for us, launder their money with latinos in the US buying Auburn jerseys, Russell Athletics can fire up a factory to help us so local employment. Latinos would become a huge segment of our fan base.
We could start taco specials laced with fentanyl in the stadium.
For a big game like Florida this fall, wait for it, Golesh comes out in a mask, like Nacho Libre, or Mr Wrestling 2, he can call himself Senor de los Cartels.
The opportunities are boundless.

In all seriousness, I said this at the start. This will put a big hurt on the NFL, their feeder program will be reduced as more college programs offer guaranteed money versus taking your chances on falling a round in the NFL.
What an amazing....and sad time for the sport.

Lanier,
When I see your fishing picture I think about years ago I was in Charlotteville Tobago. The fishermen use piroques, but its a traditional boat shape not flat bottomed, usually about 20 feet or so. They put these pieces of bamboo, kind of like outriggers and tie a line to either end like a bow. They then hang lines off the line attached to the bow, the bamboo works like a drag to wear the fish out. They then pull the line in by hand.
This friggin guy comes into the harbor with a marlin hangin off the boat. How in the hell he ever got that thing in the boat I can only imagine.

That is awesome. He probably would have a story , if you could understand them. Crazy when you can do when you dont have all the fancy equipment.
Some places in Mexico, they fish with line wrapped around a can. Like a beer can. Its a crazy technique. They took some of the worlds best bass fishermen and made them try it for a while and it was funny as hell watching them try that.
Like this. Some of the amigos on the video that I saw could do it like a pro

Lanier,
Thats how they do it here in Trinidad, but its a spindle rather than a can. Ive been out on chartered boats where a dozen guys pitch in. They all come on the boat with coolers for the fish and their pigtail bucket with their tackle and their spindle.
I tried it half a dozen times, pulling in a good sized fish by hand aint too easy on the hands, and we catch a lot of fish. And dont dare wear gloves, might as well get on the boat in a pair of diapers. The last time I hooked a very good sized fish, the way it was behaving probably a grouper, I could not pull it in, good, new, decent test line and he snapped it. Looked down at my hands and said, nah Im bringing a rod from now on.
