For as much fun as it is watching Golesh get all these commits, I just do it think recruit rankings mean all that much anymore. Different coaches approach it different ways. It’s whether or not a coach is filling needs and has a strategy to do so.

Fortunately (at least up to this point) Golesh seems to have a clear cut strategy on how to recruit for his teams. Both from a talent and culture fit. It is encouraging for sure.

The high school rankings definitely mean a whole lot less, on their own. Have to factor in transfer portal and rarely do those actually get combined, they are viewed separately. Theoretically you could get a HS class of a lot of raw but super talented 3* type guys that you know will be your three and four year type of guys and have a lower ranked class, but have a lot of money to spend on your portal and have a great portal class that is your immediate contributors. So, the whole is a different picture than the parts, obviously.

As you said, just need to have a strategy and stick to it as best you can. Can't just wing it and sign talen that you don't have a concrete plan for just to boost rankings.

Predictions for Deshawn Hall coming in after latest bat signal. I had sort of written this recruitment off but apparently Golesh and company decided that wanted to push for Hall. Auburn clearly has found a magic NIL tree.

What are everyone’s thoughts on Chris Davis’ boy? Transferred to Spain Park. Projected between 3 and 4 Star. Surely we get this kid, right? Why wouldn’t we?

Dont want to talk about it. That literally felt like it just happened yesterday.

Look at bamas QB room Austin Mack an expensive transfer. Russell and Thomalla both 5 stars on the bench. And now this cycle they pick up another 5 and 4 star.

DeBoner getting his own Freeze 5 while the rest of the roster suffers?

Surprised he bounced from Trussville. Coaches used him well at RB.

Yep, and one of the reasons I am really happy with the way Golesh is handling each room.

Think UGA is finally realizing they are going to have to pay NIL to HS recruits in todays world. The "we'll develop you" line isnt working anymore.

AU gryphon,

Sounds like you are correct. JLee said that DeShawn came in for their 7on7 and really impressed, and the conversations afterward as well. Also said they liked the Willis kid committed to Cinncinatti and others are taking a hard look at Willis.

So if DeShawn is in thats two and the Willis kid could be three or do they go with Cederick Simmons.

But we have a lot of young slot guys so Cederick could be odd man out.

So he will sign with bama probably and be the next Jaylen Waddle

I agree with the "develop you" storyline, its kind of hokey with the advent of NIL.

If Im a good player, I will get developed at any of the 20 or 30 top programs.

Now if I chose to go to a school with a lot of issues, yeah, if the OL sucks then I probably cant showcase my QB or RB skills. Or if Im on the DL I might get doubled teamed all the time.

The NIL is the "anty" to get in the game, the rest, development, good environment, school academics, coaches relationship come into play.

I think they have paid a good portion of their NIL on retention and dont have the funds to go after all the kids they want out of HS.

As Auburn fans we should hope we one day have that issue

I personally think we sign a slot WR, regardless of Hall’s imminent commitment

I’m from Prattville and know about this kid. Hall needs a TON of work at WR but his talent is undeniable. He is a better basketball player at this point in his career and wondering if he will play both sports, but if he devotes his time and effort in football and concentrates at learning his craft, the sky is the limit. He can be a contested catch demon, with his athleticism and ball skills. He isn’t going to blow you away with his speed but a serious red zone threat and a guy you can just throw it up to and him go and get it
