I think Smuphy was the one that said he had legit heard his camp reached out to us earlier in the season. So, there is some legit interest there if he doesn’t go pro.

3 mill a season. 1.2 mill up front is what I was told.

As for Ewers I think it’s realistic, but we need them to lose.

That's a lot of money for a DB.

It will take some of the high paid players to go bust for the NIL to become more reasonable.

Yeah smuphy we would.

If he is interested and they make the run all the way to the championship......we watch all other legit targets sign and we are waiting on him. That is one heck of a risk.

Im sure channels are being opened and some tinkering.....not tampering certainly not.....but some tinkering.

Yeah Jesus lord that an incredible amount of money for a guy who MIGHT be All-SEC. I might have actually been more pissed that we didn't drop that bag on a Portal QB.

I,had to go back and look, after 2013, Gus signed the #6 class. Coming off a trip to the title game.

#6 class for Auburn is always a great class. Like it or not. Its amazing how hyped people can get after watching history all these years.

Great class then. Great class this year.

Thank goodness we didn’t pay $3m a year for a corner.

Probably got Starr and Woodby for less then 500k a year combined

Someone humor me and explain the Quinn Ewers thing.

#1 - There is no logical reason for him to bank his last season of eligibility on Auburn rebounding in year #3 under Freeze.

#2 - The timing is idiotic. Wait weeks and hope that Texas doesn't go far in the playoffs for the QB who again, has little reason to come here from a pure football standpoint, while other QB's enter the Portal and commit to other schools.

#3 - He isn't even that good. This entire scenario relies on Ewers being deemed not good enough to go high in the NFL Draft, and then Texas deciding that they would rather tell their Senior starting QB to leave so that they can give his job to a significantly less experienced player on their own roster? So if Texas doesn't want him starting, why would we want to risk our entire Portal QB window waiting for the chance to MAYBE sign him? And again, under this scenario Auburn is apparently enticing Ewers by "dropping the bag". But again, if he is worth the bag, why wouldn't he just stay at Texas and hold his starting job?

Has anyone looked at his advanced stats this year? They are very very pedestrian for a guy on an elite team. He is #61 in the country in Raw QBR (pure QB value not adjusted for strength of opponents). He is #67 in the country in PAA (number of points contributed by a quarterback above the level of an average quarterback).

He also missed several games this year so those numbers would probably be closer to 3k. And nearly 30TDs. He and the Kid from Washington St are probably your best bet for top 2 portal QBs this cycle if they become available. Right now Mateer is HEAVILY favored to follow his coach to Oklahoma though.

They signed his brother today so I doubt it.

Ewers would be a no doubter. I'd put the chances of that happening at -1%

His 71.4 QBR is lower than Miller Moss' QB rating on the season.

If Ewers is leaving because he can't keep the job over Manning, then he is effectively being benched....just like Miller Moss was LOL. If being benched means that Moss shouldn't be considered, why would anyone get excited over "dropping the bag" on Ewers?

So again...not one side of this "rumor" makes any logical sense .

3K and ~30 TD's...so like Payton Thorne in 2021?
