Russaw's mind is made up and he's done is what it sounds like to me.

Russaw seemed like the one that was always hyped up about visiting Auburn though. In interviews after visiting for games, he always seemed the most excited to be there.

Yeah and others have mentioned that Russaw always seemed to like Auburn more than Smith. So it’s at least nice to see Smith and his parent taking the trip.

I’d still guess Bama but who really knows?

It had to be more than just effort. There is no way he took that job thinking that he would not have to recruit. I just dont think people liked him or his personality
Well BS recruits itself very well compared to the teams they played. He very well could have thought recruiting didn't require alot effort. Freeze is supposed to be a good recruiter so it makes Harsin's efforts look even worse.

But it's also obvious he isn't likable. His own players don't seem to care for him and not alot of players hate their excoaches that much after they are gone.

Boise State has finished first in the MWC each of the last however many years except once, definitely true.

They did a good job recruiting the marginalized guys in Southern California and Texas especially. It’s where the overwhelming amount of their roster is from. And I think that setup and expertise just obviously doesn’t translate to the SEC, and especially not Auburn where you’ve gotta recruit super local

For anyone concerned about that recent offer he got from Colorado and Deion Sanders --- Darron just told me he still plans to officially visit Auburn this weekend. Says he's locked in.
From KN. So that's Freeze 1 and Deion 0.

More than likely Russaw is happy with his NIL deal with Bama and is shutting it down while Smith is just trying to squeeze out more money from them.

I'm sure if Russaw hears about Smith getting a better NIL deal, hell end up making a trip.

Russaw is done, having decided on Auburn a long time ago. Went to Bama recently to hear them out and tell his family that he did his due diligence. Bama made strong offer but nothing that would change his mind. Lots going on for the holidays and he's been to Auburn a million times, no need to come this weekend. Smith is bringing his old man down while he is off work for the holidays, showing him the Auburn experience and where he's gonna be living.

I can dream, right?

Doesn’t mean he was necessarily going to Houston. That could have been a layover.

No time for a layover, we better be taking direct flights!

New Dukes Scoops breakdown:

Met Coach Freeze at the Langston Hughes game and asked about recruiting philosophy, Freeze said Alabama is 1A and Atlanta area/ GA is 1B. He understands the importance of keeping "home at home."

Keyshawn Blackstock is still high on Auburn and looking forward to visiting. He's been in contact with new staff, Coach Thornton in particular.

Dukes asked his dad about the new coaching staff and he responded with " huge fans". He likes where Auburn sits.

Former Baylor commit LB Taurean York
has been in contact with Auburn and they're giving him something to consider.

Duke is the current favorite due to his relationship with Trooper, but an Auburn offer could change things.

He's 6' 218 lbs and Dukes says he reminds him of Zakoby, a " speedy see ball hit ball LB"

Stanquan Clark is trending toward Miami

Ohio State CB commit Kayin Lee is going to come down to signing day. He wants to be close to home and Auburn's proximity is a plus, but he likes Ohio State's winning culture and loved his visit there.

Freeze was the star of the show during the in home with Qua and Smith. His charm was on full display, and he didn't defer to the assistants that accompanied him. Freeze made it clear he wants them at AU

Auburn has been in contact with AZ State transfer OL Ben Scott a three year starter at right guard. Auburn hasn't offered yet but apparently really likes him and an offer could come soon. He's 6'5 310 LBs

As impressive as we look to be at fixing the problem at OL the DL recruiting lacks and the LB is non existent.

Getting a DC so late in the cycle sure didnt help. Tough to get those recruits when they arent even sure what defense you will run, and we arent even sure who we will need.

Not the staff's fault given the circumstances, but just heartbreaking to see the talent at DL in AL this year and we did not get a single one, not a single one.

It’s sad for any recruit to say that. As in, Auburn doesn’t have a winning culture.
