It's almost July and we have 3 commits and one of them doesn't have a p5 offer besides Auburn. Awful

And Woody to FSU. Woody, IMO, is the first big miss of this class

This is rather easy to explain.... no one will commit to the new staff until they can show forward progress and the ability to place players in the league... our rivals already have a proven track record, AU has hired an unknown from the west coast in the minds of the SE recruiting footprint

And if we are being honest, it is perfectly understandable that young recruits would be hesitant to join up right now.

Auburn does not need to have a miraculous season, but it needs a well coached season. It needs to help recruits see how they could be utilized in such systems.

Amen.

Lookin at the situation objectively there is no way any of us hot shot hypothetical players would committ to a coach that is brand new to the job, brand new to the region, and with team identity up in the air. Nobody knows what to expect.

Harsin will have to let this season do the talking for him.

Technically, it won't be a miss until he actually signs an LOI with FSU.

You guys are acting like commitments mean something these days.

If the Criminoles tank their season and Norvell is on the hotseat in late November, while we are having a solid year, I'm sure Mr Woody will reconsider his non-binding agreement.

**Speculation/Rumors Warning**

We could pay them like UGA continues to do. Based on rumor, UGA in particular seems to be angering other programs in the SEC.

At the time it seemed really obvious to me that the first 4 year cycle Saban had at both LSU and Alabama, both programs were offering inducements that were beyond the pale. At both places and successes over the first few years, that wasn't necessary at the level it was in the beginning. Now with the on-field success Alabama has had under Saban and the NFL placement, plus their after elgibility program, I doubt Alabama has to induce any more than any other top 20 program. That program is a machine until Saban retires or starts slipping.

Smart did the same thing at UGA, but has continued to induce at the same level from when he started. He's about as successful as Richt was to this point, and UGA historically recruits in the top 10, not the top 1-5. I've been told of some absurd inducements happening at UGA, but I have no idea of their validity so I won't mention them. Apparently they haven't reverted to "Big 6" norms, hence the bubbling anger.

I think Auburn has to find a way to overcome apathy that settled in post-2017 when Malzahn’s tenure started to wind down.

The perception of Auburn right now isn’t healthy and it’s not something that Harsin and staff can change overnight. I just hope that our fan base is patient enough to see through a complete rebuild cycle.

What a weird thing to feel compelled to explain here It’s a miss for now. You can spin it however you want to. This is a thread solely dedicated to covering recruiting. Part of that is commitments. You guys are going to need a safer space than this one if we have to qualify all of the technical aspects of a public pledge

The warning is appreciated but let’s not go down this rabbit hole. Most of recruiting is speculation and warnings but this subject goes to a whole other level. Better left alone.

LSU LT expected to go into the transfer portal. Do we have a chance?

EDIT: Just saw where he's had several issues at LSU, so I guess I wonder if the staff will pursue.

Just for a frame of reference..

And Mike Norvell with the Seminoles has more cred with his first year 3-6 record and a FSU team that hasn't done anything in a while?

So that's why TAe Woody picked FSU over Auburn?

Just saying, who knows why these kids pick a school. Ofc, Norvell is having a great recruiting year so far, tops in the ACC and top 5 in the nation so far.

So lets hope that Harsin in his 2nd year can emulate what Norvell is doing in his 2nd year...

I hope we end up ranked between our last 3 coaches first year in recruiting.
