I missed this, but apparently TJ Dudley is committing tomorrow and choosing between Bama, Oregon or UCF.

Camden Brown committed to Pitt. Another guy Auburn really eased off of. He won MVP for his position group at the big WR camp and earned an offer.

I think it’s mostly good to see coaches move on from these guys. Gotta set higher targets

So if we're backing off of targets, that should mean we're feeling good about guys higher up our board, right? Not knowing what's going on behind the scenes, it feels odd to pass on multiple players without having gotten any (public) commitments.

Probably a mixture of that + not wanting to load this class up now with guys we could land later.

If Auburn wants Camden Brown in December he’s not going to sign with Pitt.

Funny enough, though, Auburn might lose out on 4* DE Tyrese Fearsby to Pitt or PSU. Sounds like his official to Auburn put them on top (or in some sort of a tie) but another writer suggested he may have some family circumstances that keep him close to home. He’s from Pittsburgh.

I trust the staff. I know other staff's do this. I have never understood that line of thinking.

We’re still getting to know what Harsin does on the trail so this is all guesswork. My assumption is that they’ve got a good feel on Clemons and Fair. And they’d rather not take Camden until they know more about other targets higher on the board

One of these are not like the other. Has Gus found a bag man.

Relationships matter. It’s why Auburn is behind on ‘22

Do we have any knowledge yet about what regions each member of the staff covers? And/or how each one is being viewed as a recruiter so far? I've read some positive things on Etheridge and Eason, and I think I read Corn covers Birmingham, but other than that I haven't seen anything. I'm especially curious about how the MWC guys are adjusting recruiting in the South.

Yes but I think the first few years are head coach centered. And after some consistency it’s more area focused. Harsin is in the middle of every recruitment right now. Gus did the same, FWIW.

Emory Floyd has released a new top 3 and AU is nowhere to be found. Auburn must’ve pulled the reigns back on his recruitment like they did Camden Brown’s

He’s been a weird guy so far. Wouldn’t count out Auburn there

It does in so many professions and business.

I expected there to be issues with this early in Harsin’s tenure. Not with every recruiter but several.

Just seems like Auburn has pulled the reigns in on several guys they seem hot and heavy on for a short amount of time. Kind of weird, obviously 6 months til early signing day but definitely something to keep an eye on.

He’s the first guy I’d say we couldn’t afford to lose. Right in our back yard and we were early + it’s a position of need. He might play DT but that’s a position we need as well

How many Auburn recruiting threads are we going to have on the Rant this summer?

I keep telling myself that the glory days of the rant are long gone and to just avoid it, but it’s habit now and I hate myself for it
