Crazy that Robertson was in the same class as NCM, Kyle Davis, and Stove

Welllll, we kept saying we needed a more experienced WR and now we may get one.

Just wonder if he can produce. He definitely had chances at Cal and GA...

Looks like KN predicts Story to Auburn. Medium confidence

Agree with this. Apparently, he did everything he was supposed to and was liked at UGA. We could really use the experience in the WR room so I don’t think there is any way it can hurt. Maybe he is just a steady presence and can make a few clutch plays for us. Maybe he finally gets a shot and it comes together for him.

Robertson is a great guy by all accounts. He’s from my part of Georgia (as well as Geriner). He’s just had a tough time putting it all together since his freshman season. There’s no guarantee he’ll do it here but he’s easy to root for.

At worst he replaces Hal Presley for a year, right? I'd like to have a couple more WRs even just for depth. But if he puts it together then it's all upside. No brainer IMO.

KN says 247 reporters now seem to be backing off of Riley-Ducker to Iowa.

I've been critical, but I'm also fair. I don't know if I said here or on 247, but when I first found out about this guy a couple of months ago I said how much I liked him. I hope we pull it off.

Marcus Allen committed to UNC. Been trending that way for a little while now.

Elite 11, Day 1 Top Performers
quote:

- Holden Geriner, Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School, committed to Auburn

Geriner was as consistent as any passer and solid throughout the day, showing good touch on his deeper passes. Geriner was hitting his receivers between the numbers, in stride, with a smooth release, and showing a bevy of throws tonight to all levels.

Maxie would be a huge get. His top 5 is UF, UGA, USC, A&M, and Auburn. There’s still some concern about LSU coming into the picture down the road.

I don’t know enough about Pollard. Physically he’s pretty impressive looking

By the end of August, Auburn could have:

4* QB Holden Geriner
4* DE Caden Story
3* DB Jarrell Stinson
3* TE Micah Riley-Ducker
3* DT Maxie Baudoin V
3* WR Jay Fair
3* LB Micah Pollard
3* LB Powell Gordon
3* K Alex McPherson

Drew Bobo is a wildcard. And that’s about where we’d expect to be before the season in terms of commitments, possibly a few shy of expectation due to several misses.

My guess is that by signing day that Fair, Baudoin, and Riley-Ducker sneak inside the 4* composite rating.

Do you think we get Riley-Ducker? I was thinking that he was gonna go with Iowa, but I have some friends that say he’s leaning away from them and that we lead?

He commits next week so I guess we will see then either way.

Initially everyone assumed Iowa. However, both Iowa and Iowa State both told 247 they didn’t think it would be them. Which leaves Indiana and Auburn. He had a lot of great things to say about Auburn, Harsin, and the SEC so I think that’s where folks think he’s trending.

He’s not telling any of the schools until the day before he commits

He got a few CB's to Iowa in the past month but all of a sudden those same people have backed off on that considerably. With his commitment only a week away, that's generally a good sign for us, but of course he could ultimately still pick them.

Is today the deadline for kids in the transfer portal? Any last second gets for us?

I hope he chooses AU, but if I'm a TE I'd choose Iowa State if the cultural fit was right. They do some really unique stuff with 13 personnel (3 TE) that not many in CFB run.

quote:

The three Iowa State tight ends, Charlie Kolar (88), Chase Allen (11) and Dylan Soehner (89), are second, fourth and sixth on the team in terms of receiving yards, respectively. They account for 33% of the team’s total receptions, and they have hauled in two of ISU quarterback Brock Purdy’s four passing touchdowns on the year. The Cyclones pretty much always have a tight end on the field, and normally base out of 11 (one running back and one tight end) and 12 personnel (one running back and two tight ends). However, they will also show some 13 personnel looks with three tight ends.

quote:

The most important personnel to understanding Iowa State’s offense isn’t the quarterback or running back — though they’re very good and we’ll discuss them shortly — but rather the tight ends. ISU deploys two or three of them on virtually every offensive snap: starters #11 TE Allen, #88 TE Kolar, and #89 TE Soehner, or if one is unavailable, backup #43 TE Rus. The tight ends play every conceivable role in the offense: in-line blockers, H-backs, split out receivers, and pre-snap motion men.
