It'll prevent him from putting on the necessary weight for awhile but he could spend all that time studying technique and the playbook I guess.

"Shades of Prothro" makes it sound as if this is an open fracture. Open fractures are bad, bad, bad. Rates of complication/infection are many time greater than simple closed fracture.
I'll hope for the best. Maybe it's not as bad as it sounds. A lot of things look worse to untrained eyes than what they really are, so maybe the sports reporter for the Advertiser is overstating things a bit with his reference to Prothro.
