Honestly the only loss that really bothered me post-adolescence (2003 or so) was the 2017 NCAAT game against UNC. Bad losses in basketball cause me to melt the hardest for some reason.

Nutt was going to screw up that game no matter what Fish did. It is in his DNA.

Even if Stoerner didn't fumble and won that game, Nutt and his usual self would still have a hangover against state. We would go to the SECCG and lay an egg, no way we would beat Tennessee twice.

finally, a bunch of fricking kids in this thread

Can't say I was around for the Texas game, but the baseball loss got me harder than most of what I'd witnessed up to this point. On top of baseball being my baby, watching that dropped foul ball domino into 9 more innings of shitshow with a National Title on the line was unbelievably depressing. Game 3 was like a funeral procession.

I remember Matt Cronin was struggling and he had a hard time throwing strikes. The foul wasn't the problem, it was the Oregon State base hit that came after. All Matt needed was another strike and the game was over. I think for a brief period he caved under the pressure.

We were very fortunate we didn't lose the first game. I think the Oregon State pitcher had a bad inning in the fifth and we got the lead. But they shut our offense down the rest of the game.

OSU was the better team but we had them beat. Cronin was spent from the night before. I wish dvh would have brought in the game 3 starter in the ninth and slammed the door shut.

Only accurate way to describe that game. The kids were shell shocked but if DVH couldn't get them to show up and play no one could

Note - I'm in my 30s and wasn't around for the '69 Shootout, so these are just for my lifetime as a Hog fan.

1. Stoernover
2. Oregon State, game 2
3. (at the time) ULM loss
3. (hindsight) Fish fumble
Honorable mention: 4/1/12

I'm amazed at what a low percentage of Hog fans (you're young, you're forgiven) remember how close we were to playing for the national championship in 1988 if we had held on to that interception v Miami

We went to the Cotton Bowl anyway of course, and laid an egg against UCLA, but it would have been different if we preserved those last few seconds of Miami. We went into the Cotton Bowl heartbroken.

Notre Dame I firmly believe would have come to the Cotton Bowl against us instead of going to the Fiesta Bowl v West Virginia for the "natty game"

West Virginia was really good, but their schedule was really weak. At least the media could have argued that Notre Dame had a really tough decision to make.

I THINK we would have played differently in the Cotton Bowl against whoever, if we had been 11-0 undefeated.

1. 15-14. I'm old. Trust me, this was way worse than Stoerner's fumble.
2. Losing to Minnesota in the Music City Bowl. I had a box full of clients at that one. Humiliating.
3. Watching the foul ball land vs. Oregon State.

69 Texas. I was 10 and there. Billy Graham sat directly behind us. I thought about punching his kid who was a Texas fan.

losing to UCLA in the National Championship game and the dropped foul ball tie for 2nd.

The loss to LSU in 65 was bad because the QB got hurt and left in the second quarter. LSU would win 14-7. It was a devastating loss because we could have been back to back champs.

The 69 game was by far the worst in razorback history. Almost 50 million Americans watched this game. This was the game that broke the back of Frank Broyles. He never recovered and we fell off the national stage going into the 70s.

The 88 and 89 teams were really good. I do think both loses to Texas and Miami took a lot of care out of those teams when they played in the bowl games.

Even if we won that game, we would still have our typical Nutt hangover game against state. Beat LSU then we would have laid an egg against Tennessee in the SECCG. Then to top it off, lose the bowl game. The 98 and 99 teams were a waste of talent.

That Minnesota team was on a five game losing streak and our players were bitching a bout why we couldn't go to a better bowl. Well Minnesota would score 29 unanswered points at one point to a 29-7 lead. Fine work by the Nutt himself as he made it one of the ugliest bowl games in our history.

Citadel

I get the big games were frustrating moments when we just didn't close. But let's talk about the kinda soul crushing defeats we've seen thst can remove you're interest in watching the team play all together.
