There's a thread on the Rant about consolidation of talent, which is really the issue. all the 5 star talent goes to the top 5 programs for the most part.
In a strange way...I think NIL may serve to spread that out some. See the kid going to Jackson State. He'll be all that and a shite diggety from a marketing standpoint which equals NIL $$$. All the 5s at Bama and A&M can't get the individual recognition they could get if they were spread out. It'll take a year or so for them to realize that it isn't just the $$ they get promised to sign with a school...its the $$$ they get after they make a name for themselves.
If nothing else...it'll be interesting.

Well, between $1-4 million if you're the #1 recruit apparently if you belive the Ewers and Jax State kid figures.

Ewers is definite. He got $1.4 to sit the bench in Columbus.

I love how all these Arkansas reporters keep saying how PR stupid it is for major, publicly traded fortune 500 companies to get behind NIL deals with college kids, when Nike just did this: LINK
Told yall weeks ago that Arkansas-based celebrities like Justin Moore and John Daly needed to start having "benefit" concerts and events for the football roster.
This would basically be just like political fundraising now.
You telling me that if Jerry Jones came for a VIP meet and greet and speaking engagement in Arkansas and charged $100-$1000 per plate that there wouldn't be tons of money raised for player salaries.
Think of how much a Bobby Bones-organized tailgate and concert with Justin Moore and Josh Turner at War Memorial could raise, or a VIP John Daly golf tournament at Alotion or some other nice course would net.
And best of all, that shite is tax deductible if it's a charitable donation.
Just think what kind of player salary money Garth Brooks could raise if he held 3 sold out stadium concerts for Okie State athletics. It would be a financial windfall and the paying public wouldn't feel nearly as icky as donating directly to a fake charity where they don't even get any entertainment out of the deal.
It will be interesting to see how, if at all, states like Arkansas, with a passionate CFB fanbase, can make some hay that way in an attempt to try to keep up with what the Texas schools are doing.

For those of you freaking out over Missouri being ahead of us, Missouri had 2 in state 5 stars that both stayed home. Which good for drink I guess, but they aren’t going to annually pump guys out like that, and if you even move those two from a 5 to a 4 star we are ahead of them in recruiting. I wouldn’t get all bent out of shape over the Missouri ranking

True, just saying Mizzou is so incredibly lame.
Can't emphasize enough how bad their athletic setup is compared to ours.
2 pretty large metros areas is a pretty big advantage for them for sure.

Sam needs to take advantage of the Kansas City area. Missouri compared to other SEC states doesn't have as many loyal fans because they historically didn't care a bout college sports. It is very much like Memphis that any school can come in and get good players.

Or hell, have the whole team sign helmets. Past hog legends sign jerseys and put it in the NIL fund.

That is insane to give a 17 year old that hasn’t proven anything. This all got out of control really quick.
I somewhat understand giving palyer that is the face of a team like KJ or catalon an endorsement deal. That’s how the rule change was sold. This is just semipro ball. How long before they aren’t required to take classes?

I tend to think that things will even out a bit after a few cycles when these highly touted kids get huge deals and then transfer out the next year or simply flame out in college. Once companies stop seeing a return on their investments, they will become more selective about just throwing these deals around to every kid that inks with their college of choice.
Or I'm just dreaming and this will continue to spiral out of control. Guess we'll see.

Stoops is a helluva coach.
Can anybody remember Kentucky being good at football, ever?
I wish we had a hire like that.

Could have had Coach Prime, apparently he interviewed really well. He is 10-2 this year. Signed the number 1 overall recruit.

Stoops has been given time to build a program, too.

Arkansas would have gone 10-2/11-1 playing Kentucky's schedule this last year.

Arkansas will always be lacking in recruiting due to our population. We can fill the gap tho by becoming a premier landing spot for transfer portal players.

Kentucky has been patient with him that's for sure. He didn't win this many games every year that's for sure.

He is a good coach no question but not sure he would survive the first three years without making a bowl. That isn't even including playing in the East vs West.
