I will support a bad team. I will not support lazy quitters with no heart.

There's no other word for it. This is lazy basketball. Down at home and our PG's are walking the ball up the court, dribbling for 10 seconds, then shooting a contested 3. At most it's one pass into a catch and shoot midrange jumper that's contested 80% of the time. They aren't even trying.

These seniors and this head coach are fricking pathetic. They got one little ranking and then decided to put their heads so far up their asses that they don't know how to get them out.

This has happened for 7 years...

Add in the Stan Heath and John Pelphrey eras and we've been dealing with this crap for close to 20 years.

I’m tired of sucking in major sports.

That was a steaming pile of shite.
Why the frick do we take terrible shot after terrible shot.

I’m just thoroughly confused by this team. I turned if off what seemed like early in the first after Bailey and Beard went on a shooting spree and Bailey fouled someone who made a layup.
These are the same guys (minus Moses and Manny (who I think was probably more important in a leadership way than was given credit)) who played balls out against NC in the tourney diving for balls and exerting every ounce of energy they had. These are the same guys who were playing beautiful ball just a couple weeks ago. Did something happen? Is their confidence just wrecked? Barford and Macon are beasts. I understand that off nights will be had but not this. I just don’t get it.

Our offense looked horrible. Dribbling the crap out of the ball when we should be running our offense.
We should of recruited Moses brother.

A team that isn’t based on fundamentals don’t have anything to fall back on when things go sideways.

Yup, I think that’s why I turned it off. It didn’t appear to me that LSU was playing some great defense we just looked lost out there. I feel like I complain about Beard too much, the guy stuck with it after his drama but when he’s shooting that much it’s not a good sign. And I can’t even really bitch at him because no one was doing anything better at the time- at least he was trying.

Maybe so —were we playing better fundamentals earlier in the season and have regressed or just didn’t show up til now?

Because we don't run a fricking offense. Only designed play I've seen is 1. Inbound the ball at half court. 2. Everybody get out of the way 3. One guy come screen the ball carriers man so he can take a shot regardless of being open or not.
This team could be top ten in the nation with some disciprine and coaching. They're not getting either of those now.

I've been watching Hog basketball since the 80's and I can't remember a more lackluster effort than last night. I have tickets for Saturday and was really excited about being back in the Bud until this crap show last night.
I'm still going, but I'm hoping a different team shows up. Man that was bad. And I live in South Arkansas so I'll have to hear about it from the resident LSU fans for the rest of the season.

I only watch a few games each year nowadays, but I see the same thing every year. Essentially, we look good before conference play begins, but terrible after. We have talent and this can be a very good team, so that's not the problem.
Our slide begins with our first conference road game. At home, our players are relaxed, they work the ball around for good shots and they play defense. On the road, defense disappears and players are in 1-on-1 mode. They look desperate and unsure of themselves. The LSU game was just players continuing the form that began on the road.
I don't see how this continues to be a problem, but it's obvious to me that defense needs to be priority #1 on the road. If they're playing defense harder, they'll place more value in offensive possessions and won't be so quick to jack it up. This probably goes against some logic, that playing hard defense on the road will favor the home team, so we should just push the ball up the court faster, but we can see how that mindset has played out.
Sutton and Nolan were huge on defense, and it's 40 minutes of hell, not 40 minutes of offense. Mike Anderson doesn't seem to have the same appreciation for defense that those 2 had, and combined with our philosophy on offense, it hurts us bad on the road.

The only reason things are going sideways is because players are half assing it out there.
Fix that and the style of play is just fine. Same team and coach that are winning close to 70% of their games in the last few seasons and have won around 25 games twice in the last 3 years.
I know it's an unpopular opinion but there is absolutely nothing wrong with Mike Anderson's style or his coaching ability.
Y'all will see. This team will get it turned around and will be playing lights out. Sooner than later.

I've been watching Arkansas basketball for 40 years and I've never seen half assing look this bad. Players are half assing, because they're not sure what to do, imo.
Even if it is due to half assing, that's still on Mike Anderson. Personally, I love Mike Anderson, and I'm glad he received a shot at Arkansas, but he's just not getting it done.

Like I said in another thread, Mike should bench his starters until they get their shite together.

Exactly. If you are going to lose, I'm going to lose with 5 guys on the floor that I know I'm getting 100% effort from (not sure I could pick out 5 last night) Just like with the football team: losses happen, it's how we lose certain games that gets to me.
Some nights shots fall for you and sometimes they don't, but your defensive effort should be the same unless you are physically hurt.

Just like the coach. You're team is a reflection of your coach. Mike is not Nolan.
Look what Howland has done at State.
Get Mike outta here before he mind fricks the recruiting class coming in next year.
