Who tf schedules a Memphis away game (that we lose) with no reciprocal home game? We gonna play some FCS teams away next?

I don't know about the Memphis or Arkansas accounts, he for sure doesn't have the greatest reputation on those 2

Large NIL budget, larger group of talent in the surrounding area compared to the rest of their conference.
Wierd this would be a reason considering our talent pool is supposedly just the shits compared to the rest of our conference and Silverfield has been the only coach at Memphis since NIL started.

Real question is why do mediocre coaches typically kill it at Memphis?
Pittman or Kiffin?
Posted by dammitbert on 11/30/25 at 3:23 pm
I was anti Kiffin during the hiring cycle when we hired Pitt. Mainly because I felt Kiffin would open his skirt to any bigger better deal that came along, while Pitt was at least loyal and wanted to be the head hog.
So fast forward to today, after however many years of suckage with one 9 win season and a couple field rushings mixed in, we're hiring a mid tier AAC coach, who's fan base is happy to see go, while Lane is leaving Ole Miss high and dry, right in the midst of the best season in school history, to go to conference rival and notorious shithole LSU.
I was wrong. We shoulda got Kiff. Sure he'd leave us to crash and burn at the worst time, but I'd take that over being a bottom dweller looking at getting booted out of the conference.
Moral of the story - frick that integrity shite.

Literally the only thing he could do at this point to make this palatable.
I'd disagree on that. 0-8 and 2 years of a mobile QB who makes bad decisions, that Bobby kinda hitched his wagon to, just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sick of the mobile QBs that can't make their reads. Give me some BA types back, please.
Clean the whole house-players, coaches, and AD. Make a competent AD hire and let them do their thing and when we manage an 8 win season I might start tuning in again.
My fall Saturdays are open until then.

you are not going to get that person to come here in this climate
There's no shortage of good to great coaches that would take 7 million a year to coach at Arkansas. Thinking we just can't get one to reluctantly take our money and be the highest paid public employee in the state is asinine.
Having a large amount of candidates go a different direction because the person interviewing them is an idiot is definitely possible. But this is not the best we could do.
This hire screams half assed and lazy, which is right in line with what our administration has consistently put out really since the Petrino hire. That was the last competent decision we have made.
How we managed to hire Muss is beyond me.

But should it be a surprise?
Absolutely should not have been a surprise to ANYONE. We've known Hunter was an incompetent, idiot AD for years now. Him still being employed here in the first place is a huge indictment of the entire administration.
The problems clearly go a lot higher than HY.
I'm done with all of it. Basketball, baseball too. The fan base as a whole is nothing but a cash cow that the higher ups don't even think they need to water/feed.
I've got better things to devote my time and money to. It'll take a lot more than a new AD to get me back on the train at this point.

I completely agree. Dabo would be Belichek level bad here, IMHO.

Think I've decided my biggest pet peeve is people acting like they're in the know but are too chicken shite to drop a name. Even on anonymous message boards.

he went 11-3 in 2024 ? look people we aren’t getting him so it doesn’t matter but saying you wouldn’t take Campbell is like saying you wouldn’t take Kirby smart
That's the only year out of the last 5 that he's won over 7 games. Id be happy with that hire over what we'll probably get, but in no way would I call that as crazy as turning away Kirby Smart ??

I'll go on record that I have no faith in Hunter to pull off a hire that people are going to care about. I think if Bobby could have pulled off 2 wins and kept the rest close he'd have the job but that seems to be out.
My wishlist
1. Lanning - I was reamed for suggesting he was crazy enough to jump to Arkansas but Ive seen a few acting like it's a possibility...I doubt it but it'd be a home run of course
2. Gruden - yes there's the Belichek risk but Grude is at least young enough that dementia hasn't set in yet and seems to have some legit fire/desire to coach left in him. It'd be a gamble but at worst it would inject some life into the program and get people (recruits) talking about Arkansas again.
3. Sumrall - 40-11 in 2 years at Troy and almost 2 years at Tulane? That's not a huge sample size but that's worth gambling on IMO.
Golesh, Silverfield, Morris -- all gambles that I'm just not completely sold on. Potentially good coaches but Morris for example is 44-33...2 years out of 7 winning 10 wins or more, if he gets another win this year. It's not bad but I feel like Sumrall has a better track record in a shorter amount of time. These guys are young though, and I would take them over a lot of the other options being floated.
Errbody else:
Campbell - feel like his ship has sailed and he'd be mediocre here just like he has been at Iowa st
Fleck - really the same as Campbell. Couldve been a great hire around a decade ago but have floated around in the middle of the pack a little too long to get too excited about.
Odom - 3rd most Arkansas thing we could do...and I think we could do worse, but that would not move the needle at all and making that hire would just be waving the white flag and admitting we are okay with mediocrity from here on.
Orgeron -2nd most Arkansas thing ever...would be worst option on the board IMO
Gus - most Arkansas thing ever
Dabo - absolutely washed. Dude is a great coach but he's not winning at a high rate without pulling a 180 on the NIL/transfer game. It's already caught up and passed him and he doesn't seem interested in catching up.
