How much longer until you give up on the football program?

OK...I'm 61...so I grew up with Frank Broyles and playing Texas in Little Rock because there were no lights in Fayetteville. I'm as hard core a Razorback fan as anyone...and I suspect I'll always stay one.
That said, I see everyone 'giving up' on Pittman (not saying that's not justified), but when do you just say Screw it all?
We've seen John L., Chadilac, Bert, Pittman...most didn't like HDN and Petrino was likely headed for a blowup one way or another the day we hired him. One can argue we haven't hired a decent football coach since Ken Hatfield and we ran him off.
So how much longer to you stay loyal to the clown show that is Arkansas football?
I've moved to about 75 miles from Tallahassee and gotta say that Tomahawk chop thing looks cooler all the time.

I'm never giving up in that I'll always be a fan, but I've just adjusted expectations and only get too invested in sports we are serious about winning

I'm 65 so I'm in for the long haul.
I just don't get invested like I did a few years ago.
I live in Alabama and hate Bama and Auburn.

I'll never give up on it but by GAF has significantly declined over the last decade.

The Hogs have never won a single game of any significance in my lifetime, and I was born in 1970. I can't help but think how blessed I am that the Razorbacks are the biggest misery and frustration in my life. In the end, it's all about your expectations. If you want to play games that matter to college football and perennially have a top 15-20 team, you probably should adopt Free Shoes University.
I have family that was born and raised in Arkansas, but are LSU fans, I guess because they think the football team they support is a reflection on them, and they can't see themselves being associated with a mediocre team that has a decent year once every 4-5 years.
The problems with the Arkansas program are too numerous to mention. We have the wrong kind of rich people in this state. We have the wrong kind of people running the athletic programs, and we have the wrong kind of fanbase for a program that struggles to compete in the best conference in college football.
Have I already given up? Maybe. I prefer to think that I have learned the realities of college football, and realized that it would take a miracle for us to compete at the highest levels with any consistency. So I will do what I have done for the last 40 years, which is celebrate when we play well and jump up and beat someone who actually has a chance to play games of significance, and bitch when we lose to teams we should beat. But I will always be a Razorback fan and could never contemplate supporting another team because being their fan is easier.

It would take some sort of Penn State-like shenanigans coming to light for me to abandon Razorback football.
Even then, I wouldn't adopt a new team. I'd probably just give up college football in general.

I will always be loyal but it’s kinda like I’m the mom or hell grandma
who loves their kids but knows their limitations and would still cheer and buy them snacks.

I did during Morris. Never came even close to back.
Basketball dwarfs it for me and baseball to a lesser extent.

This is me and I couldn't do it any other way, but I'm also a realist. Pre-Bert, I believed we had a chance in every game. Sure, you'd lose to Vandy and then win at LSU, so the season was still a wash. There were highs and lows, but lacked consistency. '06-'11 spoiled me as a fan, but it also proved a lot. Sam is a good dude and well-liked, but isn't someone I have faith in to help us compete for anything more than being middle of the road.
I've always thought he was the Mike Anderson of this rebuild. We just need to find the football version of Muss now.

I've just adjusted expectations

But the only way you do that is by taking a chance on an up and coming type guy, which neither our money people, nor our fan base will contemplate or tolerate.

My name is etched in that sidewalk so I’m never “giving up” on it because it’s too much apart of my DNA.
However, I’ve definitely adjusted my general expectations, and my emotional and financial investment accordingly. We gave up our season tickets during the Bert era and only make about 1 home game a year (if that), and the losses don’t hit nearly as hard anymore.
I’ve opted to invest my time and dollars in other sports where we are or can be nationally competitive, namely basketball and baseball.

The school doesn't give a shite enough to actually win anything of significance, so why should we? Will always love the program, but I can't get that emotionally involved like I used to. Now it's just an exercise in futility.
Simple fact is you have to have a HOF coach to win at Arkansas...or they're going to have to royally step up NIL game and a decent coach can win 10+ games.
This year is a prime example of being able to win the west, but we have a complete shite show on offense and we won't 6 games if it isn't figured out.
If Arkansas gets a great coach, the feel will be back, but going John L, Bert, Chad, Sam in a decade is not fricking it.

I doubt anyone here would really give up completely but we're posting on a message board. The fans you lose are those on the margins or those that would've become fans but never do because of the state of the program

I'll never give up on any Razorback team regardless of the sport.
58 years of being a Razorback fan, alumni, and booster. I've never contemplated cheering for any other Team.

With our lack of big time talent, there should be no excuse for terrible effort or execution. But yet we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot over and over again.
Petrino demanded perfection. He yelled and cussed to get his point across. His players were locked in every game, and when we lost it was just straight up talent disparity.
Seems to me that we need a coach like Petrino to run the show. He will get the most out of team.
Pittman is not doing his job in that regard. There's no reason we should have lost that game on Saturday.

I gave up on them last season and became a Bama fan this season, now look at what they are doing. I might be the problem.

I stopped giving much of a shite at the end of 2016 when Bert didn't get fired. I had a brief fire at the end of 2017, but then I saw we hired Morris and that was basically it. I still talk football here and there out of habit and when there's an interesting discussion to be had, but I've said it in multiple topics: let Pittman stay for ten years or whenever he decides to retire. He's a good guy anf this state deserves no better than his performance. If we make a hire that, for better or worse, says we care after he's gone, maybe I'll have my interest piqued a little again.
I keep up with Deion Sanders as a project to still stay interested in CFB,but of course I have no emotional attachment to Colorado.
I still care about the Hogs, just not Hot football. Despite dropping the ball here and there, we still care about baseball and basketball, and we're in the hunt for something significant come postseason, usually. That's all I ask for as a fan: a reason to stay invested and for just the CHANCE at a significant event.
