I thinks it more of an issue of the so called elite bigs demanding too much of the budget with them also trying to create bidding wars.
He's signed the defensive rim protector who rebounds big the pay two years with Adoo and Pringle only to watch them struggle with back and leg injuries which had equated to a huge waist of the NIL budget.
Brazile being a 3 with the size of a 4 who has been in the 4 spot has made people over value the necessity of a elite 5. Actually having 4s and 5s who play as a 4/5 instead of wanting to hang out on the perimeter like a 3 will make a world or difference.

quote:You say that, but Brazile still out-blocked and out-rebounded the 5's. Brazile was definitely a finesse player, but we were also just weak at the 5. Both are true.

I'm of the mind that if next year's team is even remotely similar to this one, we don't need an "elite" big. We just need a Moses Kingsley or Steven Hill type role player.

It’s not so much that Ewin is a game-changer that we need to get back. But it would have been nice for him to stick around as a backup big man
Exactly. He averaged a double double in the tournament, losing a guy like that would not be a good thing. Bird in the hand, etc.

Looking like the frontcourt will be even weaker next season.

Trilly says he’s coming to Arkansas

Just don't think he's a big year 1 contributer he's so raw. And then probably enters the portal for another payday with how his handlers are and his attitude. Word is UNC and Duke both backed out, and his mom played at UNC and they were frontrunners but still said no thanks. Alarming.

He's extremely gifted. Would be hard to keep him off the court IMO.
Hopefully he is a good teammate.

People said the same shite about Acuff. Cal has his ways of humbling a kid

Well we have no one else at the moment so I'm sure he'll be on the court for better or for worse. Budget Brazile type just a lot dumber and inexperienced.

Top programs didn't bail on recruiting Acuff down the stretch. His coaches weren't blasting him for being so far behind for his age either. And Cal hasn't developed a big in ages. Not exactly great.
You might, might get half a Brazile out of this kid next year. I'll let you decide what that means for our frontcourt after missing on everyone in the portal.

One media member around Partizan told HoopsHype that coaches within the organization described Muurinen's basketball IQ and fundamental knowledge as comparable to that of a player no older than 13 or 14, and his attention to detail and work ethic during practice leave much to be desired.

I'm not sure, he mostly speaks Finnish. They asked him last week at the Nike Hoops Summit to do his interview in English but he refused and answered only in Finnish.

Well here's to hoping
He likes to play in transition which Cal obviously loves so.. it's a good fit.
Just hope we can land a true BIG with some size soon.

Phil Jackson managed Rodman. The kid and his agents know this is an audition for the big NBA payoff. Cal might be able to line the kid out, if not he can cut him loose. I think we should still go grab a couple more defensive bigs, even if they only worth 5 fouls.
