I'll take all the other sports for $500 Alex. With the new transfer rule the big SEC programs will continue to out pace us on the football field.
As long as we're not a bottom feeder football program like we have been in recent past, I'll be pleased.

I just don't think we'll see 21-5 again.

I’m happy with what we’ve got right now as long as Sam can get us to 7-9 win consistently. Then eventually we’ll get a break or 2 and get into the double digit win column. If he’s doing that I’d never fire him for not winning the sec. basically if you gave me auburn under gus I’d be content. I don’t think it can be said enough just how bad bert and Chaggie was for us. We may not be blue bloods in football or have the best in state talent but they were historically bad coaches here

I really don't think we have the potential in football (in the SEC) to ever be consistently great. History should have taught us that by now.

In the other sports, yes, we can be consistently great.

Hell, in football, we are fine with averaging 7.5-8 wins per season over a 5-10 year run with the occasional 10 win season. We aren't that hard to please in football.

I'd rather be damn fine in basketball and baseball every year.

Our population base lends us to being better at sports they don't require an 85 man roster

its a total chore to even find any of these baseball games on tv.

Wut?

Get the ESPN app on a Roku box, fire stick, your smart TV, your phone, etc. and you can literally stream every single baseball game in HD. It's identical to watching it on ESPN, ESPN2, or the SEC Network.

For frick sakes, it's so easy to do, I open a browser at work and stream it from the watch ESPN link on the work big screen.

I literally haven't missed a single baseball game this season. It's been like that for many, many years. There's no reason to not watch every single Hog baseball game (due to the simplicity) unless you're a dinosaur that thinks a TV is a toaster oven.

I don’t agree with this. Too man y of you are acting like the same 4 schools have been good forever and will be so into perpetuate. Clemson was never great until dabo. Hell that was the term for blowing it “clemsoning”. Florida state was arse before Bowden, Florida was shite before spurrier, Oklahoma was in the doldrums in between switzer and stoops. Hell even bama had a big drop off in between Saban and the bear. Sure they had some good years here and there but by and large even the blue bloods aren’t so blue without good coaching. See Tennessee, Nebraska, Miami, notre dame, Michigan, USC. there was a time where if you said any of those schools would ever fall into mediocrity you’d be laughed out the room. We have the capacity to be a great football program with the right coach. If we start winning we have the resources to keep our coach, and if we start winning we have the facilities and fan base to attract top talent. If ole miss and Oklahoma can be relevant in football so can we.

I think having baseball, basketball, softball, TandF, etc... being ultra successful might trump the football excitement these days..

No. It’s just we have no hope. So we cheer all the things we can.

Petrino situation sank us, and we are still digging our way out.

I just don’t believe this, if this was still 2016 I’d believe it, but it doesn’t take 10 years to rebuild after one football coach. The 3 hires after Petrino is what we are building off of.

Bert had it going good until his fat drunkenness ran off all the good hires he made. Then that tool Chad set us back, but recruited well.

Give me a decent football team that not embarrassing and all the other sports please. The realities of us sustaining success at a high level consistently in football arent something fans should dwell on.

A bowl game every year, major bowl game or 10+ win season every once in a while.

Petrino didn't sink anything. Hiring John L Smith, Bert and Chad was our doom.

Bert took a decent situation from Petrino and went 0-8 in his first year. Then proceeded to underachieve his whole time here.

Then Chad took a bad situation and went nuclear.

Well yeah...but expecting this is crazy. Major bowl once every 4 years. Every few of those years we might have been playing for the sec championship. So sec championship run like every decade or two is more realistic.

ya, if you give a shite. a fair weather fan will just scroll through the channels on hulu or their cable box, not find it, and move on with their night.

youre completely delusional if you think college baseball is nearly as accessible as basketball and football.

As of now we don't have a baseball or basketball natty (since 94), so I'd take 21-5 over that.

Now if we start winning baseball/basketball titles then I might change my mind

The majority of hog basketball games were viewed the exact same way. What are you talking about. There were some that were on regular channels but most of them were on SEC network plus. It's the easiest thing in the world. My 83 year old grandpa figured it out all by himself.

The only baseball games I've missed the last 4 years were ones I had something else going on. A smart TV, roku, ESPN+ will get you every baseball, softball, soccer, gymnastics, track youcan handle.
