Just curious how y'all feel if you had to pick today.

My hope all off-season was that Milroe would develop towards his ridiculously high ceiling. The rumor is that that isn’t the case

I’m great with Simpson. We look to have some real mashers on the O-Line so maybe we won’t be putting as much pressure on the QB that we did in the Young era

I certainly think so. The strongest part of Milroe's game is using his legs to create plays, and you can't really do that in the Spring game because once the QB is touched, he's down.

So in a real game I think it's likely that Milroe avoids a fair number of the sacks he took because he'd have more freedom to take off if the pocket starts collapsing.

Also, all of Ty's snaps were against the 2s, so it's somewhat difficult to compare each of their performances, aside from saying it looked like Ty was going through progressions more so than Milroe.

Ty also never got to play with the 1st team offense. So we have that angle as well.

I like what Josh Pate said about the QB room for Bama. It may not have a Heisman trophy winner in it this year but it doesn't have to with the talent surround the position.

That may be true. With our RB room, Milroe would kill it in a Wing-T offense

I’ll take Simpson but damn I wished Milroe would have improved. I don’t like adding the transfer, sounds like someone is already out the door and Buckner would be about 4th on my list.

Milroe would be an insanely dangerous college QB if he could just get 15% better as a passer and processing defenses. As far as we know, signs are pointing to those improvements not happening.

At some point in season, you need a QB to take control and win the game mentally. He has an insanely high ceiling as an athlete but great athlete does not equal great QB.

I guess I'd go with him though because he's such a problem for teams with his legs. Especially, if Simpson isn't much farther along with his mental side of the game.

Simpson didn't look any better than the two freshmen or Milroe IMO. I thought that he looked mediocre as hell. But a lot of people disagree with that, so maybe I'm wrong.

Yep. Milroe would be incredibly dangerous in the 2013 Gus Malzahn offense at Auburn.

Based on the limited amount I’ve seen:

Simpson
Milroe
Lonergan
Buchner
Holstein

Maybe Buchner is a hell of a practice player. He looked really bad when ND threw him out there last year, but you have to figure Reese should know him better than anyone.

I actually think Milroe is the safest but low upside pick despite most saying the opposite because of his athletic potential.

You’d put Milroe in a simple veer and shoot (think Art Briles) type offense that is essentially either read option or a vertical route on the sideline. Milroe throws a good sideline ball but doesn’t seem to read the field well or keep his eyes downfield when he breaks the pocket.

That offense can win lots of games, but I think if you want to beat the UGAs, LSUs, etc., you need more versatility. Simpson showed downsides in the spring game, but showed a lot more upside versatility.

I’ll throw a caveat on this in Buchner’s defense - ND had a whole lot of warm bodies out there playing receiver last year.

Huff’s Marshall secondary locked them down.

If I had to guess who it would be I would imagine him. Some rumblings already about USC for him but that's just internet talk.
