Which coach (nationally) has the hottest coaching seat this season?

IMO, the two “hottest” are Lincoln Riley and Bill Belechek.
Riley-no one does less with more than this guy. Treats defense as an afterthought. Unless they make the playoffs, I think he’s out after this year.
Belechek-great NFL HC but clearly WAAAY out of his element as a college coach. UNC looks absolutely hapless and I think they pull the plug on him after this year.
Oddly enough, barring something crazy (e.g. selling crack out of his office), I don’t see any HCs in the SEC getting fired.

Sark, Rhule, and Beamer are 3 other guys who probably need to reach certain benchmarks this season to be safe. Playoffs, 9 wins, and a winning season respectively. Norvell's seat is engulfed in flames but it's so well insulated by mountains of cash that it'll be a couple more years before it's hot.

Mike Norvell's seat is probably pretty hot.
If they hadn't beaten us last year he'd probably be fired already.

FSU is the financially illiterate middle class family of CFB. You know the one. The people who own a 2025 Suburban, 2024 F-250, an RV, 2 jet-skis, a pool, and a Disney annual pass + Orlando timeshare without the kind of jobs that allow you to buy those things. Looks nice on the outside, but they're fricking broke and up to their eyeballs in credit card debt + 2 mortgages. They can't afford to fire him.

You’re not wrong but I have heard they are doing poorly in recruiting because they are hoarding cash for the buyout. The power brokers In Tallahassee have realized they bought a pig in a poke and will take some short term pain by tanking recruiting to help raise the cash to run Norvell. They have seen how the right coach can fix a talent problem very quickly if they use the portal correctly.
Clemson is in a bad spot. They will flounder again this year as Dabo continues to pontificate about the evils of the portal and the downfall of college football. They know it’s almost sacrilegious to fire a coach with 2 nattys and who played for 2 more. They very much want him to make good on his threat to walk away from the game. They will ask him, beg him to hang it up before he damages the program and his legacy further but Dabo won’t do it. Clemson will have to decide where the pain point is when firing him is less painful than watching the program continue to slide.

Dabo's success hinges solely on years where he had an elite QB coupled with a stout defense.
Their QB talent since 2021 has been mediocre at best. Their projected starter this season is a kid from Birmingham. He was the 8th rated QB in his recruiting class. For reference, Eli Holstein was ranked 7th.

Their RB situation has been very Meh! recently as well, putting even more pressure on a weak QB room to produce. Maybe the projected starter will improve the run game but as a freshman he didn’t really explode onto the scene. Kiffin is going to tear them a new a-hole on Labor Day weekend.

Fickell, I just don’t understand. I thought he would be successful in Madison. Is Barry Alvarez’s Ground n Pound DNA so ingrained in Wisconsin that they can’t win any other way? Sure seems that way.

That's pretty much every successful program. If you don't have those 2 things you're not going to be successful, generally.

I have a feeling Kiffin is going to be the most hated man In Louisiana by Thanksgiving. LSU fans have convinced themselves they hired Saban. He'll have success there (I assume though both Freeze and Cutcliffe also won at Ole Miss) but Lane will never meet, much less exceed, the expectations LSU fans have set for him. That's why I'll never understand why he chose LSU over Florida. 9 wins seasons and the occasional loss to shite teams like Kentucky won't cut it in Baton Rouge.

I think Lane is one of the better offensive minds out there BUT he’s also prone to doing incredibly risky/boneheaded things at the wrong time. I remember a couple of years ago when he was at OM. Rebs ball on their own 20 yd line. It’s 4th down and twenty yds for the first down. It’s no score, early in the first quarter. Lane decides to go for it. WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!?

Ohio State has won them recently with Will Howard and Cardale Jones. UGA with Stetson Bennett. Us with McElroy and McCarron + 95% of 2017 with Hurts. Michigan with JJ McCarthy (and some cheating). That's just the last not even 20 years. Dabo has been unable to create anything special with that tier of QB though. He has only really been able to make it work with a 1st round talent at QB.

Agreed with this 100%. Dabo has had to have absolutely elite QB play to win his NCs. I also think having Venables calling the shots on those defenses helped.

I completely forgot about Belichick, LOL! No doubt, as much hype as he came in with and he and Lombardi claiming they were going to be the "33rd" NFL team, he better show great gains this season or he's probably canned.

If someone hired Deboer away from us after we just signed him to that extension, I'd be more than perfectly ok with that.
