Yes, the slow descent into mediocrity has begun.

Like you said, it's too early. We'll find out what kind of coach DeBoer is within the next month. I don't think a loss like this is program defining as long as we don't lose two more games. If we do, then it will make it a reality that the drop-off from Saban was bigger than we wanted.

You really think they can beat all those teams? I have zero faith in that.

It reminds me of the game we lost to South Carolina when Stephen Garcia played out of his mind. The guy made all of the right reads and all the right plays. Two turnovers in a game like that makes a difference.

Not necessarily but I also thought after Texas and USF last year that Bama was going to lose 5 games and they ended running the table and beating Georgia and losing to the Nc in OT.

Against South Carolina, we played in a hostile environment against a legendary coach who had a four star QB, 5 star RB, 5 star WR, and additional talent spread around the field. That team won the East.

Today was much, much worse than that.

Why?

Vandy devised and executed a perfect game plan. It's their biggest win in the program's history.
Losses happen. It sucks. It's embarrassing. But you have to move on.

Now... if BAMA comes out next week and lays an egg or wins a close game vs USC (or loses) and then gets embarrassed by Tenner or Mizzou than off with DeBoer's head. But I just don't think that's going to happen.

If we lose 3 or 4 games I’d say that comment would hold true. We would fall to the middle/upper pack. It is what it is. We will see how they respond.

I’d take a slow descent over whats happened so far. I was hoping for atleast a Larry Coker level follow up to Saban.

Yes the defense is terrible and was finally exposed the last 6 quarters.

It’s the same kind of offense that gave Saban fits during his career at Bama. A mobile qb running an option style offense. No other team we play will run that kind of offense. A pick six and a couple of stupid penalties were the difference in the game. We’ll see what kind of coach DeBoer is and see how this team responds.

Yep. I’m out of town, picking up my truck from an oil change and the guy at the counter says: “I guess that’s the end of Alabama”

Well, if someone who has attained such a high station in life said it then we are fricked

Saban was very businesslike. Emotions didn't get too high for the big games, didn't get to too low for the small ones. Ran on an even keel.

Most coaches, even really good ones let the teams run on emotion and suffer letdowns like this one.

It means DeBoar is a normal coach and coaches normal teams. It doesn't mean he can't have great teams.

It just means the Saban machine era is indeed over.

It’s the whole reason Saban retired. The entitlement, he saw it coming and didn’t want to deal with it.

The coaches are even worse than the players

Those guys were taking victory laps and talking about how they being conservative was the reason we ended the game in a dud and not the fact they had been exposed.

They brought a crap attitude and ZERO preparation to Vandy and Vandy kicked our arse.
