The problem is fixing it will require once and for all ending people’s naive illusions of what the sport is. Which means employee status and negotiated agreements.

If that ruins the sport, at least kills old school fans’ interest, then it ruins the sport. Because what once was is not going to be anymore.

That's already happened, friend.
They have claimed they care about quality wins first. And then conference championship is a plus when teams are otherwise alike. It's hard to claim SMU's wins and Bama's wins are similar.

But if Hurts can make the jump then the possibility is there that Milroe *could* as well.

Yeah, something tells me the fact that Hurts is like that good kid who always gives 110% and pushes those around them to be better as well has something to do with that.

Milroe comes off a little more like class clown to me. But I don't know him personally.

I think I'll remember him the way I remember Blake Sims.

I might be blind, but I thought I spotted Blake Sims on the sideline cheering on Bama today. I wish Blake made even half the NIL money Milroe has.

How much fun yall having losing 4 games this year ?

Sadly, some are probably "don't care, got paid."

If that is the case, you'd also have to think Dan Lanning's 12 man on the field is a bush league move, as well.

Interesting how when an offense exploits rules it's brilliant and cunning, but when the defense does it it's a tragedy in need of immediate NCAA intervention. Every Single Time.

especially if they lose the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa.

That would be another level of frustration considering how badly Auburn has been playing.

Not saying I disagree wholeheartedly but other teams seem to be managing without the discipline and penalty issues

What other teams? Oregon just beat Ohio State and one of their players was ejected for spitting in someone's eye.

ESPN and big gambling companies have done their best to inject gambling into the sport. With all the guardrails gone, 18-22 year olds are tempted to throw games, sandbag, and point shave.

ESPN has been pushing paid players for years because they want to be able to talk about salaries like they do in the NFL.

ESPN has been pushing rules changes for years that have made the game much more chaotic and chancey because it means higher ratings.

Conferences go along with ESPN because $$$.

The only way to curb all this is to stop watching, stop paying, etc.
Saban was very businesslike. Emotions didn't get too high for the big games, didn't get to too low for the small ones. Ran on an even keel.

Most coaches, even really good ones let the teams run on emotion and suffer letdowns like this one.

It means DeBoar is a normal coach and coaches normal teams. It doesn't mean he can't have great teams.

It just means the Saban machine era is indeed over.
You and your dad were both born after 84? Guess I need to get off the internet and go jump in a grave.

Since we're famous on the rant for being sidewalk fans, think this guy was a poster?

Almost feel like I did when we started picking up Heismans. "but muh Heismans" had been their cry for years.

He said in past years he had always been part of a team and couldn't imagine himself not being part of a team when asked about retirement.

I think it boils down to the fact that he no longer felt part of a team like he had before.

Eli probably told Byrne he was through traveling and wanted to do home games only. IDK.

Eli actually wanted to do all the games last season.
UW and unnamed coaches and trainers being sued by a former UW player who says he was pressured to come back early from an ACL injury resulting in him tearing it again.

Any idea which if any coaches involved with this moved to UA, and what kind of fallout could we be looking at?

Never heard of this guy. Google search says he's some Tiktok guy. What's the back story here?
