I'm just not doing this whole "things are falling apart" with this group this year because they aren't all time great like the last 2 seasons.

Not gonna do it.

I mean, it's the second game of the season, the chemistry shouldn't be right. We wouldn't want to peak too soon.

We're replacing a billion all time great players and the play caller - the hell did people expect? All off-season we said that the defense would need to be the consistent group as the offense figured things out. This feels right in line.

The defense has been fantastic. The offense is finding it's way. Again, if you expected us to just show up, score 43 a game and set another all time passer rating record that's a YOU problem. That is not a realistic expectation.

Does that mean we will figure it out? Nope. But it does mean that it's gonna take a little bit, and that might makes Florida, Ole Miss and A&M uncomfortable. Luckily the defense is veteran and loaded.

I guess our fans have literally started to expect perfection from Saban and our players. It is absurd to think so many of these guys who are starting and playing together for the first time, on the big stage, will mesh like the experienced all-time greats we've had.
This team will find its own level and ldentity and can be judged only after the season.

I don’t know how it is with other fans but even sitting in the stands at our games it seems like people think we have failed if we don’t get a first down or TD on every play.

I was going to mention this. He is incredibly reliable. Sure handed.

Slade Bolden is sure handed? That’s not how I see him. He lost a couple of fumbles last year, and was dangerously close to losing his TD against Miami.

So because he has a few fumbles last year, that means he didn’t improve a lick and is a liability?

Almost is not the same as him scoring a touchdown.

He bobbled some punts last year, fumbled a few balls, and fumbled on the goal line this past saturday leading me to believe he doesn't have the best hands on the team ?

So again because he had a few fumbles LAST year, and scored a touchdown Saturday and lost the ball after crossing the line.

While scoring the TD he fumbled the ball The rules at the goal line saved him, but he did fumble the ball at the goal line so I'm not seeing any improvement with ball security

I could post a crap ton of examples but a lot of guys lose the ball trying to cross the line.

Not directed at you just posting to the thread.

I think the perception is that Rob picks the wrong holes to run in. He seems to make an extra cut or run to the outside that he doesn't need to. Maybe he is second guessing himself or doesn't have the greatest vision who knows. Just seems like something is off.

As everyone has said it may just be working with the oline and learning how each individual plays.

Not going to get into the hot takes but I do have some serious concerns about this OL. Yes, I know they are young and haven’t had time to gel but we are out of time for that to happen as of Saturday afternoon. Florida plays grown arse man football, just like us. And that OL is one more blown assignment from getting Bryce broken in half. Then where will we be? We can turn to Tyson who looked like a hungover frat boy playing intramural ball in his brief appearance on Saturday or we can look to Milroe aka Jalen Hurts freshman edition v 2.0.

Nope, the sky is not falling and Alabama is still #1 until someone beats them but an alpha dog needs to emerge on that OL and get in some faces so they get their shite together real quick or it could be a long Saturday.

P.S. I don’t buy that bullshite that Richardson is out for this game. Mullens is playing mind games and if you believe him, I’ve got a bridge for sale.

The OL is really the only "concern" on this entire team, and we kind of knew that going into the season. Still, they've been pretty solid for the most part. We just got spoiled with last season's, and not just last season's OL but the entire efficiency of that offense. With this many new faces, it's going to take some time to find the right personnel groupings and for the OL to get that chemistry. And really, the only issue I really see is pass protection.

My biggest concern on offense right now is our lack of explosiveness. We all knew things would be "harder" than they were in past years due to all the turnover, but even in the Miami game where we executed very well we were not very explosive outside of the 1 big play to Williams.

Take out the 94 yard TD and you are looking at

76 plays
407 yards
5.36 YPP

Vs Miami
- 2 plays > 30 yards (Metchie's TD, Williams' TD)
- 3 plays >= 25 yards (Above + Latu TD)
- 0 runs > 25 yards (1 run for 20 - Sanders TD)

Vs Mercer
- 2 plays > 30 yards
- 2 plays > 25 yards
- 0 runs > 25 yards

We have 7 plays > 20 yards so far through 2 games. That's 12th in the SEC, ahead of only South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

We have 4 plays > 30 yards so far through 2 games. That's T8 in the SEC - tied with Mizzou and ahead of MSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M, LSU and Vanderbilt.

That's not great. It feels like some of our receivers are either really having a tough time getting open or that Bryce isn't seeing things before they happen. Kind of expected, but having to go on 11 play drives makes it really hard to score points in this league.

Florida has played 2 of the worst teams in college football.
So Fla is pitiful. The got beat 45-0 by NC State, who lost to Ms St. Cole Cublic said the O line is have problems when the def line moves before the snap. They will figure it out.

Mine too. Even if we're still working out the kinks, we should have been gashing a team like Mercer purely on the basis of having dramatically superior athletes at every position on the field.

I think the explosive plays will come. There have been some left on the table the past two games and the timing/execution has been just off, or the OL just hasn't given Young the time to find them. Williams and Earle will be big play receivers when they get that chemistry with Young going.
