as their new defensive coordinator. Should be interesting and a good recruiting tool for DeBoer to use against them.

What’s not to love about college football?

A school that trumpets it’s moral superiority has a sex trafficker and a guy who contributed to someone’s death making millions as their coach.

I'd almost respect them if they'd just lean into it and own it like Johnson/Erickson era Miami. I mean I'd definitely still hate them, but it would be a genuine hatred, not a hatred born of revulsion like it has been for my entire life. Instead they're content to be an athletics themed megachurch.

Right. The morally superior program hires proven sleaze like Pearl, Freeze and Durkin to lead their major athletic programs.

They've also had scandals in the softball and now tennis program. Lets not forget that they almost lost their accreditation as a school.

Junior Rosegreen failed that class.

Can't write your name in Crayon if you eat the whole box before the test.

Cadillac Williams can’t even write his own name. The Auburn boosters bought his family a home when he signed with them in high school.

There's no doubt that Auburn will hire anyone and do anything to try to win and more specifically to try to beat Alabama. But if you actually look at the details of the Jordan McNair situation, Durkin was exonerated from wrongdoing. He wasn't even present at the conditioning session where McNair died of heat stroke.

It was alleged by journalists that Durkin might have had some responsibility for a toxic culture, but multiple investigations into the Maryland program found that there was no toxic culture. Anyone who played football at even the serious high school level can tell you that people collapsing during summer workouts is a common occurrence and everyone is told to toughen up if you complain about the heat. If you want to say that's a toxic culture, it's a problem with the sport itself, not one coaching staff.

The investigations exonerated Durkin to such an extent that Maryland felt comfortable reinstating him. It was a Twitter mob that caused him to be fired, and they were acting about as reasonably as in any other case of cancelling. This is not really a defense of the hire, especially not right after hiring another scandalized coach, but people do need to actually read into the Durkin situation. This was one of those things where the media screamed the headline and whispered the details.

On a different note, I expect Auburn to eventually hire Kendal Briles. He's actually named in court documents related to the Baylor case as one of the chief promoters of their institutionalized practice of selling coerced sex with female students as a recruiting pitch. That would be a natural fit for them. I also hope they get him because his offenses suck.

I read a post on BOL that said DeBoer show Ryan Williams clips of Peyton Thorne throwing passes. Is this true?

Thanks for posting that and absolutely right. Saban was more than likely going to hire Durkin as an analyst. Dan Wolken caught wind of it and wrote a scathing article about Durkin and got the woke sissy’s panties in a wad.

I wonder how these sissy’s would have acted back during the junction boys days. Hell, even Bryant at Bama was known to have some grueling practices and conditioning.

I don't know, but I hope he did. Thorne's passing was an insult to the game.

Thorne has miraculously regressed every year he has been a starter.

Oh shite I hope so. That's cut-throat recruiting.

Yet somehow Freeze was able to sign Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson. Wonder how long before they enter the portal ? Those guys would be getting serious playing time in Ryan Grubb’s offense.
