So Tua's Done, Right?

On a one year contract with Atlanta, has the starting job, tears/strains oblique during passing drills.
He really should just pack it in at this point. Way too many catastrophic injuries to head, legs and torso. His chain is all kinds of messed up at this point and no amount of JiuJitsu and Yoga is going to fix it.
He's going to keep getting injured, and the injuries are going to be weird ones like an oblique strain doing something he's done 100,000s of times.
He made a ton of money. He has a young family. Just pack it in and let it go. It's time.

He doesn’t need the money and even though it’s a cliche, your health is everything, it’s true. I don’t think anyone could blame him for walking away. Zero shame in that.

Was never the same after that MSU game. He will always be special to me, too many awesome memories. The way he would throw that ball was a thing of beauty.

We want our Bama heroes to make it big in the NFL. Jalen Hurts is a Super Bowl MVP. Namath. Stabler. Starr. But it’s so unlikely statistically. Most don’t make it three years in the league. I have a feeling he’s got most of his bag left. Thanks for the memories, Tua. 2nd and 26 will live forever.

If he quits the Dolphins don’t have to keep paying him. He will make the Falcons cut him.

I was really hoping he would change the narrative if he got a shot to start with Atlanta...plenty of offensive talent around him.

I've always been a huge Tua defender...but I think it's over. He's made a ton of money thanks to Miami's ill advised contract guarantees...and I still think he was the most talented passer in Bama history. Pre-injury Tua was special.
Not sure how serious his injury is, but if he can play, he'd better play Sunday. Might be his last chance.
And it would be Tua vs Bryce Sunday.

Saban may have regrets but Tua was so fragile and injury prone it was bound to happen at some point, even if it wasn't the Miss St game. Look what's happened to him in the pro's that has nothing to do with the Miss St game. He constantly gets hurt and is out. He's made his money, and if he wants to stay around the game, he can go into coaching.

Tua had so much potential and everyone could see it, but this game can be very unforgiving.

If we're being honest, he's never been the same since his hip and ankle injuries that he had while playing for Bama. He lost his elusiveness and if you watch him back then vs. today it seems like he's lost a good deal of arm strength.
He did have a few really good years with the Dolphins, but he should have called it a career after his last concussion. In my opinion, he's playing a dangerous game with his long term health. He's easily worth $70 million, his work is done.
If I were in his shoes maybe I'd stick around if a contender needed a backup and there was a legitimate chance to leave the game with a ring. It would be funny if he wrapped his career backing up Jalen Hurts in Philly.

Nobody is keeping Tua around long term as a backup. He's toast after this season, if he even makes it that long. Guy needs to hang it up and invest money into some safe avenues and live the good life as long as possible.

It's not his arm strength, it's his surgically repaired hip. The hips are where like 50% of throwing power comes from and I doubt he ever got 100% functionality back.

I bought tickets to this game for my son and myself. He played and I coached at the titans stadium last year, and I have been to 40 plus Bama games. I thought it was time he and I did the NFL thing. What a better game than two of Bama's best QB's slinging it against each other. Now I get Copper frickin Rush.

I love the guy and treasure those memories at Bama BUT quite a few of those injuries at Bama were at least partially his fault. He would get flushed out of the pocket, hold the ball, hold the ball, hold the ball looking for someone to get open and then, BOOM he would take a hard lick.
His fatal flaw as a QB was he seldom accepted the fact that sometimes the play just isn’t there and your choices are throw it away, take off running or get out of bounds.

Hard to feel sorry for a guy that has banked 250 million bucks since 2020.
I wonder how much allowance his father gives him each week.
Wishing him a long and happy life. The A-Day game in 2017 was an eye opener for me. The kid threw the ball as well as any Bama QB I have seen in my 76 years. Ball placement next to none.

Spot on. I know it goes against a competitor’s nature to “give up” or “quit” on a play, you always have confidence and think you can make it work. But it’s not giving up or quitting to accept that sometimes the least bad option is to live to run another play.
