you can't be so hard headed that you're going to run your script no matter what if it doesn't mesh with the look the defense is giving you.

Agreed!

They literally melted down exactly like FSU against State last week. They blew a 16 point lead they had in the first half.

Right. You could say “hey, they crash out hard if you push back a bit” or “how likely is a team to do that two weeks in a row”

The way you see it is dependent on your evaluation of their staff to some degree. Beamer seems to have good hustle from his guys but they are typically a bit bad on offense.

Not just a failure to score points but a failure to move the ball entirely.

6 out of 10 drives went three and out. 60% of our opening drives doesn’t even get a first down. Much less score points.

I've actually got chatGPT analyzing this very thing. It's seen some interesting trends on how Grubb is game planning. After South Carolina, it'll probably have Grubb figured out.

And yet, his offenses have scored 48, 45 and 50 points in the first three games. Kentucky was no pushover. FSU was playing for its coach's life and will be better this year. ECU pulled out the stops on defense hoping to get a monumental win.

I have little will to argue with the guy's performance now that he has players who fit his scheme.

Defense scored 14 of those.

I watched that game. I think it was more than just a meltdown. South Carolina went conservative and IMO, played “not to lose. It didn’t help LaNorris Sellers threw two incredibly dumb INTS in USCe territory.

But maybe what really sealed the deal is Kamario Taylor. That dude is a physical freak. Cannon for an arm and yet throws a very accurate ball. Taylor is (IMO) the best QB Bama will face in the regular season.

I know, people will say, “No, he plays for MSU. He’s not that good.”. HUUUUGE mistake to underestimate this kid.

Once the offense gets adjusted and on their feet, they're hell on wheels, there's no doubt about that. I just don't know what's causing them at the beginning of games to look so out of sorts.

He sure is. Called several of his games in jr high and HS. You could tell he was going to be star . Cannon for an arm

Exactly, we scored 26 points the first half. At least we got the offense on track. The defense was bad the entire game.

Gmac said the KY changed everything on defense when they played us.
They went from a soft zone to being very aggressive.
And basically same with fsu. They had a week off and made big changes to their defense.

So if back to back teams did this, did they do it beecause of something they're seeing on film? Apparently so or they wouldn't have made the drastic changes.

Grubb reminds me a lot of BoB, but one game specifically sticks out to me where BoB just realized we had a huge advantage turning around and handing the ball off.

This is why he doesn’t remind me of BoB. Seems to forget he’s not in the PAC12 and gets too cute.

So take those 14 away and we are still averaging 43 points a game against two P4 and one G6 opponent... all with a slow start.

I'd love to see us come out in 13 personnel and just bludgeon SC to death on the first drive.

Our run game is more effective when our opponents are tired. Starting games running predictable offense is Grubbs issue and you're basically saying you want to do the same thing just with running every down.

They are absolutely nothing alike as far as playcallers, play design, etc.

BOB has absolutely the worst. It was incredible how much people defended that guy as he wasted the best offensive rosters year after year and still for some reason don't realize just how bad he was comparing him to a OC like Grubb whose main weakness is he doesn't build an earlier rhythm and gets away from running the ball.

BOB was basically go routes with minor deviation then hope and a prayer.
