To quote Aaron Rodgers

"five letters here - R E L A X, relax. we will be ok."

Alabama is in a great qb situation. An awesome qb at starter and a guy who is capable in the back up. Back up is improving weekly this year in the new system, starter is looking good enough to receive insane hype and adulation.

This is the best qb situation Saban has ever had and as one poster said the other day (I forget who), its like in Happy Gilmore "happy learned how to put, uh oh".

Pre-emptively i'm going to say that I understand Saban can make mistakes. But you have (1) nfl qb starting, (1) backup qb who has shown he typically can get enough done for the victory and Saban managing the ship. Its all looking good right now.

Maybe more gets figured out this weekend, but hopefully the same hand wringing is going on because bama was up 4 td's midway through the second quarter though.

My concern will be if the game is close and battling it back and forth, will he frick up the groove and put Jalen in for 2-3 series? May or may not pay off but the odds seem like it would frick up more than it would help.

If he keeps playing like he is then he won’t have to worry about it. I think that’s the point in competition. If everyone is soooooo sure Tua is way better than why are y’all concerned Tua will lose the starting job? It’s baffling.

Cause we all know Tua is better yet here we are in week 4 still discussing our possible 2 QB system.

I’m not panicking until Saban puts Hurts in when the game is still in question (less than a 24 point lead). The fact we’re still discussing Hurts vs Tua’s playing time after seeing what Tua is capable of is frustrating tho.

Blake Sims just said on the radio that he is very happy with the QB situation and how it’s been handled. That he loves seeing both guys on the sideline helping each other out.

Yes.. things happen. But that happened in the second half up 52.. Tua can barley make it to the second quarter. I’m just concerned with his development with lack of reps. Sure he is great.. but he still needs game time practice. Pull him at halftime. Tua hasnt played a full game when you add up all his game time minutes.

Aren't we fortunate to have a coach like Saban to make those decisions for us?
And to me, and obviously Saban, it doesn't matter whether it's the 1st or 2nd half, if the games has been put away, why tempt fate.

Why is everyone so concerned about Tua and Jalen over a #of reps in the game. GOSH! JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE SEASON!!!!

It's not everyday we get two starters on the team that can start anywhere in America. Guys, let it go and sit back and enjoy the show.

Jalen's not going to play that much in a close game. I could MAYBE see him coming in for a play or 2 but I'd be absolutely shocked to see him get significant playing time in a competitive game

I just see that as very, very unlikely personally, that kind of scenario is something I wouldn't worry about until it happens.

Hurts seems to be doing well in his current situation. It is possible that IF he does transfer, he red shirts at his next school.

The whole redshirt thing was never in Alabama's best interests anyway...only Jalen's to preserve an extra year for him

Yeah, but Jalen held all the bargaining power. He could leave the team any time he wanted. And that's probably the reason we now have two QB's.

If Tua stays healthy and Bama is in the playoffs he will be the Heisman champion. The voters are not in a vacuum looking at stats alone.

I hate this quote... Be honest here Jalen would start at maybe 50% of schools.

He is an average QB, and that is usually enough for us.

That's conjecture, of course, and I'd say a pretty long stretch. Besides that, the Heisman ballots go to the voters in the last week of November and most voters probably return their ballot before the playoff teams are announced, which according to a couple of articles I googled, was a day before the heisman winner was announced. One article specifically noted that the heisman is a regular season award.

If Tua doesn't get more playing time than he's getting so far, he'll probably not have the statistics to win the heisman, even if he keeps playing as well as he's played so far. I assume he will get more playing time in the tougher games, but those games, of course, will be the harder games to amass all those gaudy stats that heisman voters love to see.

you said that it was "odd." and I said that you probably think that it is "odd" because you are one of the ones that questions/has questioned the best college football coach of all time the most on how he has handled the QB situation.
