I think Metchie would be a real nightmare in the slot. Put Jamo and Brooks/Holden out wide, Metch in the slot and get to work. Slade has his place in this offense but a playmaker he is not. Give him 5-6 snaps in the slot when Metch needs a breather.

LOL I thought the same thing

But at least BoB broke out some motion to move the defense! Progress!

I like Slade, and I've taken up for him on here. He's a hard worker, and never takes plays off. He's made some pretty big catches this season. But I have to agree with you guys. He's just not a Welker, Edelman, Renfrow etc caliber player that I thought he could be. He isn't quick and slippery enough.

I trust the coaches, but yeah, it seems pretty obvious at this point that we have more athletic guys that could fill his role better.

I think that when he's surrounded by other scary options he could be fine sitting down in zones and stuff......but with this group he's just not a threat. I'm a total "trust the coaches they know way more than us" guy, but it's getting really hard to figure out.

We saw something out of Brooks ... Dude was playing well saturday.

So I would expect to see some unique look against Georgia.
Metchie, Brooks, Williams, Leary out of backfield.... whew!

To do what he did in that situation was Tua 2nd half against Georgia in the NC stuff. His other catch on that drive was huge as well. Hell, he wasn't even on my radar as far as guys that I thought could possibly step up for us in that game.

All this Slade talk doesn't matter because he's clearly going to be playing RB this weekend with B-Rob questionable.

I’d still trust Metchie in double coverage over a wide open Bolden right now. Bolden was clutch Saturday though, but I still remember that dropped pass at Florida.

Time to get off Slade's arse.....I have seen killer, kick in the nuts drops from Metchie, Jameson, Latu, Billingsley, Robinson, and JoJo....its like a drops virus has infected our offense

He takes too much heat for sure, but comparing him to guys that have, despite the drops, made a lot of big plays doesn't make sense.

I posted this preseason to a hail of thumbs down. Hate to be right but I do take off the crimson glasses from time to time.
Slade is from Louisiana and he’s just one those players from La that coach Saban loves.

Slade has made plenty of clutch plays....he isn't the athletic freak that makes the explosive plays but a lunch pail blue collar role player who can be counted on to execute.

Tired of people on this board shitting on this kid

EDIT: And to whoever is downvoting my Slade Bolden posts

Honestly - if Slade knows the protections and they think he can stonewall a blitzing LB, I'd be all in favor of this as the secondary guy to Trey (who did a helluva job in blitz pickups Saturday).

Leary in the slot, Slade in the backfield running swings and quick motions out and stuff. Would be a good option (if they trust him at RB, which I'm guessing they do as they seem to trust him to do most anything - with good reason).

Definitely a gritty kid. Gym rat type. Coach on the field even. Hard-nosed.

If BRob can’t play, I hope it’s Sanders and Leary instead. Slade is slow, doesn’t break tackles, and isn’t shifty at all. Bad combo for a RB.

I agree with all of that, but I don't think Slade would be doing much of any running.

And if the trade off is Leary in the slot with some juice, I'm all for it.

That's not accurate. He muffed a punt in front of his own goal line last week and it was a miracle he recovered it. Could have very well cost us the game. The drop at UF was huge, and his history of drops and muffed punts goes back to last season. He doesn't have good hands. He cant create any separation. His catch radius is so small... Bryce has to throw a dime to connect with Slade. He's simply not athletic enough to be starting and taking all these snaps from other players like Brooks or Holden. How many throws this year have grazed his fingers and he's like 2 inches off the grass trying to catch it ? Brooks could jump over his head to catch a ball. He gets tackled by his own shadow seemingly... seriously has to have the worst YAC of all time. He played the entire game with our main WR ejected from the game and had 1 catch for 6 yards, and I believe that came in OT on a route that he ran six yards, turned around, and the ball hit him in the numbers. I think there is a place for Slade- especially as a RB now that numbers are thin. He could be a Danny Woodhead type back maybe, but lined up against athletic DB's isn't working for him. I'm sorry my opinion will upset some. I truly am.

A punt drop and a pass drop aren’t really the same and like you said he recovered it. I agree we have more talented guys but they don’t play the same position as Slade. With JoJo being out it’s the 3rd string (whoever that is) and Slade. Could they move baker, brooks, or Holden to slot, maybe. But before the SECCG ? Probably not.

Metchie has played slot.

After last weeks performance how do you sit Brooks ?

Give me Jamo and Brooks wide with Metchie in the slot.
