Can we get adequate blocking and can we get winning QB play (winning QB play requires adequate blocking)? We are stacked to solid literally everywhere else. Offensive skill positions, stacked. Secondary, stacked, linebackers, stacked, Dline, solid. Special teams, solid. Coaching, upgraded. I feel we have plenty of talent on the oline and in the QB room, just hope they can realize the potential. If they do it could be a crazy year.

If Ty Dolla Sign is the starting QB and we have some hiccups with the line, his legs and audacity will help offset some of that while they gel. Big Mack will need protection guarding that leadership and height. Keelon is Weapon X.

We absolutely do not have a QB issue. Take it to the bank.

I really think the interior OL and Proctor were dinged up last year.

If Roberts gets back to his baseline and we find a quality RT we should be more than fine up front.

OL will be helped a lot by Milroe not being back there.

If you look at the Oline, we shouldn’t have any issues.

Proctor will be a year better and will be helped by having a qb who understands pocket awareness. Roberts back healthy. Brailsford another year better. Losing Booker is tough but I think we have done a good job of bringing in a replacement. And Formby coaches clearly wanted him to be RT last year and he had a really bad game and never got his spot back fully.

I think the oline will be a strength and I really hope we mash some teams

Damn, only the most important position on the team and the most important position group.

Of all of Milroes flaws, this was the biggest IMO. He literally gave opposing DEs the perfect angle to sack him nearly every time

A concern with TS from watching HS and Alabama clips is a strong tendency to bail too quickly or occasionally freeze in the face of the rush.

Also, concerned about the DeBoer/Grubb O needing a strong arm, not necessarily for bombs but throwing on a line on outs, corners, etc.

Agree completely. As a former Left Tackle I can’t overstate how important it is to have a qb who knows how to navigate the pocket.

I’m out of my stance, I’m blocking this damn guy for you and expecting to ride him all the way around you. Except your dumbass decided to rollout for no reason or drop so far back that now he’s coming at an angle or step up in the pocket before he’s clear of if and walk right into a sack. There are certain qbs that you watch as someone who understands oline play and you die a little inside. These last two years were rough on your boy.

It was a combination of his pocket awareness and inability to make the correct calls at the line. It rarely ever looked like he could read where a blitz was coming from and communicate with the center or the rest of the OL or even audible to a hot route.

Whether that was due to a lack of trust on the part of the coaching staff or a lack of football IQ is up for debate, but I remember all of Saban's past QBs doing it. AJ and Bryce were probably the best at it.

He was the George Castanza of the read option.

Wherever the ball should go (keep vs give) based on the defense, we would do the opposite. Watching the coaches completely give up and just tell him to run QB power so we didn’t waste time with his indecision would’ve been pretty funny if we hadn’t had a playoff spot on the line.

It’s not amazing that we struggled, it’s amazing that it worked as often as it did which is actually a testament to just how damn naturally gifted he was as an athlete.

I just realized that I had never watched Ty’s HS footage. I’m linking what I watched here.

Three minutes and twelve seconds, quick cut highlight reel. Looks like a cut and dry case of happy feet, sort of steps up into the pocket twice. Actually kind of reminds me of Barnett’s tape. Hopefully the coaching staff has placed heavy emphasis on pocket presence. If they have and he’s responded well, I don’t think he’ll have any issues behind this line. If not, it could look like 2017 Jalen. Yikes.

What's the RB situation looking like. Bama didn't have a consistent running game last year at all.

RB will be fine. Not great, but fine.

Only questions I have are about LG and RT. I have no other concerns as far as QB play goes. I feel as though Simpson will play loose and confident, but should he struggle, I wouldn’t be surprised if Russell didn’t come in and make plays. Grubb calling plays instead of Sheridan should help as well.
