Consider we all knew Bama was replacing 5 starters at DB, Scott did a good job.
He lost his most experienced CB after Arkansas, had a JuCo transfer who was all athletic ability(who later quit on the team in the NC game), and a true freshman who did pretty damn good.
Thompson started hot then cooled, same with McKinney. This day and age, more specialty coaching is occurring, especially with more assistants allowed.
These hires definitely fit the narrative Saban has laid out about wanting more personal coaches...

Glad Baker worked out I like him and Def the MSU front we played against.
Glad my info was good don’t want to hurt my rating on google ;)

Unless you get your wish in regards to a different defensive playcaller and we dump Golding for a high level DC, we seem set. Edit: Unless Scott bolts, but from my understanding is well regarded still by Saban, similar to Golding.
I hope I'm wrong about Golding. If Golding is the sole DC next season and the defense looks vastly improved I will be the first to admit it.

Gleeson is going to Okie St. Wouldn't have minded seeing him at Bama.

Would've killed it for us (and of course he'll kill it against the thin air Okie State plays against).

Wonder if he's going to update his Twitter handle (@MSUCoachBaker)

What happened with this guy? I thought he was supposed to be a home run hire last year?

JMO but I still think Coach Kool is a very good coach but he’s not a fit at Alabama.

He a tremendous coach. Has developed some elite DLs with much less talent than he had to work with at Miami and Alabama. But like others have alluded, it may not have been a great fit for other reasons.

In one of the insider reports, I remember it said the words "Saban thinks" and "lazy" in the same sentence in regards to Kool.

People tried to tell me he was an upgrade over Dunbar, still not convinced.
Dunbar wasn't a recruiter, but Kool hasn't had a impact either.
He's the secondary recruiter to his position, and gets Stoutland-esque softballs like Jackson Bratton that no one could frick up.
Dunbar at least left for a VERY regarded DL job under one of his mentors with the Steelers.

Wellll Dunbar did screw up some softball pitched recruits last year.

Everyone presumes Bama would have gotten Langhem if Dunbar makes that trip. Think his mind was made up and it's a scapegoat reasoning, him being related to Antonio had no bearing.
Now Baker has both NFL experience and a knack for being a player's coach, definitely an upgrade on Kool.

Coach K will be doing alright off the field with his 2 year deal.
Defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski - $750,000, 2 years.
Bama overpaid for his services.
Not that it matters now but this was the 3 year deal for Dan Enos at Bama. Maybe that is what he meant about bidness is bidness.........
Quarterback coach Dan Enos has an interesting 3 year deal. He will earn $200,000 in year one. It will increase to $250,000 in the second year and then will receive a major bump to $875,000 in year three. That is quite an incentive to stick around for the life of the contract. For the Tide, perhaps they see him as a future OC?

It was structured that way because he was still being paid by Arkansas for two more years. In the 3rd year of that contract, we would have been picking up all of his salary.

Yeah. Kiffin had a similar contract.
