I'd actually say that Kiffin and Grubb are more similar than one might think. I'd say Kiffin is also "calls plays" rather than "runs an offense" type of offensive coordinator.

The big thing that changed Kiffin, for the better, while in Tuscaloosa is he stopped treating the run game like it was the OC's equivalent of eating your vegetables and would commit to it. Remember, he was the passing game coordinator for Carroll in SoCal. I don't think he really learned how to package a run game until he got to Tuscaloosa.

I'd agree, although I think he's (Kiffin, that is) improved over time. He did that annoying thing where he'd have us constantly throwing horizontally with no blocking in front of our targets at the beginning of games to spread the defense out or whatever, but that was pretty much the only semblance of a master plan he had while he was here :lol:

I mean, I'm going to avoid any mind reading, but I will say that the guy has absolutely no feel for gameflow or iterating based on what is (and isn't) working.

He can draw up some nice play designs though (which we usually can't execute :lol:).
