DeMeco has a top 10 QB on a rookie contract. I think he would be dumb to come to Bama.

Yeah people can speculate but career NFL guys dont just wander into college. Everyone that knows always says that the NFL is a much better lifestyle

He might be out of a job next year if they start out 2-6. NFL = Not For Long.

NFL does stand for "Not For Long". That said, once you're in the NFL, the buyouts are amazing and teams are always interested in retreads. Especially if you have trips to the playoffs on your resume.

There is such a thing as the offseason in the NFL. That and with the current CBA, the hours you work are pretty tightly defined.

As far as coaching goes, it's about as good as you're going to get when it comes to work life balance.

It was one of the dumbest in game coaching performances I’ve ever seen, capped off by him running the football on 3rd down @ the GT 30 with 36 seconds remaining up 3. Instead of a victory knee to run out the clock the RB fumbles. Tech recovers and scores on the following play, game over.

This has happened repeatedly to him at Oregon as well.

That was absolutely unreal. Dumbest coach ever. Never learned from Oregon ha

When Nick said he was going to be around the program, I think he meant he is going to help with massive transition incoming. Pretty sure he doesn't intend to be at practice or telling the next coach what plays to run. If that was the case he wouldnt heve retired.

Unfortunately it turned into Democratic Underground for people with other hobbies and it’s now a disaster with a terrible UI, terrible censorship and horrible culture.

Yeah, people are reading into this FAR too much. He's doing everything he can to create a successful transition because he cares about his staff and his players. He's not going to be coaching from the secret high office

When CFB inevitably gets reformed...this has to change. Coach salaries and player "salaries" should be capped but in return coaches and players can have a life outside of football.

Schumann would be intriguing. Obviously wouldnt be a “home run” exciting off the bat, but dude went to school at Alabama just to learn to be a coach under Saban. Has been in the Saban/Smart tree his whole adult life (and Ive heard was the first person Smart hired when he went to Georgia).

If he could be protege turned rival to Smart as Smart was to Saban, then that could be a cool way to keep the machine rolling.
