My initial instinct is Jobe is more likely to leave early than Allen, just because I suspect he has a higher grade.

But let’s face it, I don’t really know what I’m talking about.

But while I’m here, I would have thought Brown would be more of a 3-4 round pick. And that’s not really a slight - you can be a good guard and not be taken till the 3rd round.

He will get dumped on in the draft lead up for his bad body but the guy is just such a good player. He needs to trim up some just to adjust to the athleticism he's going to see probably, but I think he's off the board by the end of round two for sure.

Allen had a really strong second half of the season. It's like the light bulb flipped on. I really hope he comes back because I could see him and Anderson being a wrecking crew next year. Six or seven games ago I would have said no way he won't be back. Now? It's probably a toss up.

Allen made Gilbert opt out for the rest of the year.

Anyone got a GIF of him takeing the ball from Gilbert?

Yea I was going to say I think Mathis may test the waters . Think he has a child and might want to get paid . Not 100% sure on that but just my thought . Go out with a ring. I think it will be hard for 4 and 5th year players to come back across CFB not just Bama

I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the incoming freshmen WRs earn a start or at least regular rotation. I could see one of them easily replacing SB. Bolden is a great kid and I was thrilled to see him get that TD but he is not a playmaker and we would be hurting if relying on SB to make big plays in the passing game. He's great as a role player.

Since the NCAA is basically open for essentially unrestricted free agency in college football, anything can happen, both in us picking up key players or losing them.
I would not be surprised to see some players leave, especially on offense to follow Sark. I sure hope not, but it's the real world we are in now.

Boo! Why would they leave if they have a chance to start or get significant playing time here?

I've read a lot of people who think Neal is a RT (and a future great one), but not a LT. I wonder if one of the 2 freshmen starts at LT.

I think the plan for him was always to start out at guard his freshman year, then move him over to RT to replace Wills this year, then to LT to replace Leatherwood next year. We'll see, but I'd kind of be shocked to see him stay at RT next year. I don't know how they ended up grading both players, but to me it seemed that Neal might've played better than Leatherwood this year. Dude is a beast.

Yep. I've seen him surprisingly high on some mock drafts.

Fair enough. What I think the biggest question marks going into next season is who will be the starting CBs and what DT will be able to consistently pressure the QB.

If Jobe can be convinced to comeback, that would help a ton. Hopefully Banks or one of the JC players (Khyree out of this year's class, or Williams from last year's class) will be ready to step in. If not we'll have to live through some early growing pains while McKinstry gets acclimated.

And then we will have to find a DT that can penetrate consistently and cause havoc on passing downs like Barmore did this year. Mathis, Ray, DJ, and Eboigbe are decent against the run, but aren't pass rushers. Maybe Smith can develop into that, or maybe one of the incoming freshmen like Payne or Goodwine or JTT (if we get him) can be that guy on the inside. But we'll need someone to step up in the Barmore's place.

But CB and passing down DT are my biggest concerns going into next year.

I wonder if we'll bring in a grad transfer at WR who can be part of the rotation, not necessarily one that has to start. In 2015 we had a similar situation where we had inexperience at the position and brought in Mullaney.

Not so fast on that free agent deal

LINK /

The NCAA Division I Council voted Monday to delay enacting legislation on two major fronts: name, image and likeness rights and a one-time transfer exemption that would allow athletes to switch schools once without sitting out a year in residence, sources confirmed to CBS Sports.

CBS Sports reported over the weekend that both pieces of legislation, which were once expected to be passed, would instead be delayed indefinitely.

I like your line up, but a few notes/changes. Just my thoughts:

quote:

QB - Bryce Young (SO)
RB - Jase McClellan (SO)
WR - John Metchie (JR)
WR - Slade Bolden (R-JR)
WR - Jacorey Brooks (FR)
TE - Major Tennison (SR)
TE - Jahleel Billingsley (JR)
LT - Evan Neal (JR)
LG - Deonte Brown (SRx2) (I think he comes back)
C - Darrian Dalcourt (JR)
RG - Emil Ekiyor (R-JR)
RT - Brockermeyer/Latham (FR)

If Brian Robinson is gone I think Jase gets the starting nod and Sanders/Wheaton will figure into the rotation. Think 2018 when we played all 3 of Damien, Jacobs, and Najee.

I think Leary (maybe Earle, but I believe Leary is an EE and Earle is a Summer arrival) will push Bolden simply by virtue of being better. I think Bolden starts and plays a lot, but except Leary to play early, and play more and more as the season goes on.

I could see Carl Tucker over Major Tennison, but both will probably play.

I think Evan Neal might stay at RT and Brockermeyer gets the nod at LT. Latham could get it, but I feel like Brockermeyer is a little bit more ready to play right away. At LG Brown back would be amazing, but right now I don't think he returns. If he's gone, I expect either Pierce Quick or JC Latham to start at LG (with Latham moving to OT when Neal goes pro), but there's a chance a returning Chris Owens could start at LG if Dalcourt is the Center. At Center it's either Dalcourt or Owens. I think Dalcourt is better, but Owens has the experience.

quote:

DE - Eboigbe/Young (JR)
DT - Smith (SO)
DT - Dale (JR)
DE - Mathis (R-SR)
OLB - Will Anderson (SO)
ILB - Christian Harris (JR)
ILB - Jaylen Moody (SR)
OLB - Dallas Turner (FR)
CB - Josh Jobe (SR)
FS - Wright (R-SR)/Hellams (JR)
SS - Jordan Battle (JR)
CB - Ga'Quincy McKinstry (FR)
STAR - Malachi Moore (SO)/Brian Branch (SO)

I love it, few things though. If we get JTT I think he figures into the rotation right away, but it's tough to predict we'll have him. I think Smith should probably overtake Dale, but Dale has played better in the back half IMO and shouldn't be phased out. Damon Payne may play some too.

If Chris Allen is back he'll still start at Sam, but if he's gone I'd love to see Dallas Turner earn a starting job like Will Anderson did. Those two would be a deadly duo of Edge rushers. We're talking two guys with top 10 pick talent. At ILB if Moses is gone it does seem like Moody would be next man up, but I could see Shane Lee pushing for his job back if he's developed his body enough. Lot of talent vying for that job. I could also see Drew Sanders starting inside or at Sam.

I think Brian Branch is too good to only be playing in Dime next year. We have a lot of options. Moore could go to CB, but I feel like he may be more of a Star/Safety type. If he plays CB though it means he can do it and will probably be elite at it. We'll see. If he goes to CB, slot Branch in at Star. If Moore stays at Star, I think Branch has to start at FS. Wright has experience, but Branch is just too good. Wright/Hellams can still play in Dime. If Jobe comes back and Moore stays at Star I really wanna see Koolaid earn the other spot, but don't count out Khyree Jackson. Outside shot at Ronald Williams/Marcus Banks.

quote:

K - Will Reichard (JR)
P - Sam Johnson (SO)

Nothing to really add here except our returners. I think Leary/Earle could be DEADLY back there.
