The first 2 throws he starts off on the left side before coming back to the receiver on the right, not sure if he just doing standard progression or holding a defender with his eyes but it is nice regardless.

So, I think we answered the "can you find 6 plays that impressed you" question, yea?

Imagine if he had gotten 40-50 reps against Fresno State, Mercer and Vandy what we might have had on tape.

Mac Jones was 5 of 13 for 120 yards in mop up duty as a freshman and ended up being pretty good.
I saw Mac's potential last season and knew he was being underrated. Everyone laughed at me because of the two pick sixes in the Iron Bowl, but I saw what he did after those pick sixes and knew the kid doesn't rattle easily. He was a warrior that night.
I haven't seen enough of Bryce Young to make many definitive statements but one thing I do know is the kid has the talent to play the position.

I just posted 9 throws that I thought were impressive reads and or throws and or arm talent.......out of 22 total throws the ENTIRE SEASON! All against SEC teams. All without any sort of spring ball.
I mean, it's insane. I honest to goodness do not understand this "I dunno about Bryce Young" movement. I just don't get it one bit.

Anyone who walked away from that Iron Bowl and subsequent Citrus Bowl thinking Mac wasn't going to be solid is a fool.
Now, thinking he was going to post the best QB Rating in college football history? Nah, I wouldn't have said that. But be an all-conference quality starter? His work in those 2 games made it pretty clear that was a reasonable assessment. He basically made 1 bad throw against Auburn - in his first road start in an insane environment against a really good defense and a terrifying front 4.

This is mostly just people trolling because they feel vindicated about saying Mac would win the job. Now they want to poke at Bryce for some reason when nobody expected Mac to be as good as he was. I'm mostly bored so it gives me a reason to watch more football
.

see, those kind of plays in those video clips are what I remember, so I'm kind of perplexed at the total lack of confidence of some people

It is crazy how good the Oline was throughout the year and just how badly they broke down in garbage time sometimes. Neal just straight gets beat before Young gets to the end of his drop and I can't remember it being like that any other time.
Smith catches one out of bounds on the sideline against Mizzou and Bryce had to adjust cause it looks like Eyikor just released a guy straight up the middle

You post all the plays from Young that actually impressed you. I believe you may have less than 6.
AND?
What’s your point? My point is there’s very little you can take from it. How can you not realize how stupid it is to try to take it to mean he’s probably not going to be good?
Like somebody also already pointed, Kyler Murray looked like arse his freshman year. Hurts was far worse as a freshman compared to as a junior. It’s just dumb to extrapolate from his small sample size, all as a backup without a spring

with your facts and data. We don’t need any clear video evidence either. Clearly, this thread is only about opinions and feelings which mean BY sucks. Thank goodness Tyson, the Bear’s grandson, is here to save us all.

I chose the Will Reichard hill to die on last year and will choose the BY hill this time. The kid will be fine in our offense . Hell I remember Mac coming in against MSU one year and he looked awful and scared
I don’t see the “unprepared / deer in headlights “ some on here are seeing . He made some good throws and missed a couple he would like to have back I am sure . Timing with receivers is big and he didn’t get enough game reps to get that down with all of them. His practice reps footage , HS film, and limited opportunities this year look fine to me

It's hard to know what someone is looking at at times. IMO, he looks terrific.
Yes, he's small but all of the other stuff is top-notch: poise, quick-release, accuracy, strong arm, reacts to adversity well, quick and elusive. Height doesn't seem to be much of a problem, though he will likely get a pass or two knocked down at first.

The Truth - QBs... This is the smallest group so I'll give some insights on 2020 and going into spring. Bryce Young will be the starter, Paul Tyson 2nd team and Jalen Milroe third team.
Bryce had a very good year in practice and the coaches are very high on him and have confidence in him. He is a very accurate passer and has continued to learn the offense and get better at his reads. Bryce is also a very instinctive QB as he has a ton of experience passing in high school. Bryce can extend plays like Tua but not like Kyler, he has Tua's speed. He extended several plays during games and he is good at that. Sark put Bryce 2nd string the first day he got to campus and gave him a shot early at starting but it was never close. Mac was first string from start to finish which was expected by the players.
This offense is very difficult to run and it takes awhile to understand the reads. But, the offense is lethal once perfected! Bryce got some practice time with the 1s to be prepared if Mac got hurt. Bryce gained some good experience playing but the coaches wish he would have played more. The SEC schedule as Saban said hurt in substituting. Bryce threw 22 passes this year compared to Tua throwing 77 passes his freshman year.
Bryce's two areas of concern are being able to make the quick accurate reads from the pocket and durability. Bryce was sacked 6 times this year compared to Mac 13 with 400 attempts. This will improve as he gets better at reads. Bryce hurt his right shoulder twice this year when sacked and missed some practice time throwing. The worst was the KY game. Durability is always an issue at QB.
Paul has had two good years of practice as he is now the oldest scholarship QB. Paul is a very accurate passer and can make every throw. Paul's size really helps him make the RPO throws and read fast from pocket. Paul and Mac both won the Alabama scholastic award. Paul knows the offense inside and out. He spent the spring/summer and fall with the 2s and 3s and in the fall ran the scout team against the 1 offense. Mac, Bryce, and Paul got the same reps all year but the order never changed. Paul was 3rd string all year, but got reps with 2s. With COVID, the coaches got all three ready to play. The coaches felt like we could win with all three but Mac was the best.
The players and coaches have a lot of confidence in Paul as a player and as a leader on and off the field. Paul lacks experience and that is the biggest question. Paul missed the KY game with COVID and would have played and Saban said publicly that they should have got him in Arkansas. The other question is mobility which Paul is a pro pocket passer. Paul has to make up for extending plays with his feet by using his size to extend plays in the pocket and making reads quick.
Jalen is the best athlete of the three and could play multiple positions. He will get a shot at QB, but it will take him 1 to 2 years to learn the offense and reads. He is coming from a running offense. Tua, Mac, Bryce, and Paul have all come from a HS that passes. Jalen will be a very good scout team QB and learn a lot this year. He understands that he needs to learn and has a great attitude. He is not coming in thinking he is going to start but he will compete hard.
The coaches and players love our 2020 SABAN offense which is a Pro Style RPO offense. This is combining NEs offense with Kiffin/Sark. Obrien is a prefect fit to run it. Coach O'Brien has been quoted as he wants a QB that is an accurate passer, makes good decisions and knows the offense better than he does.
In comparing Bryce and Paul, we have two great options. Bryce is ahead with experience last year and an incredible HS career. Both are great passers. Bryce is more mobile. Paul is bigger and can see the field better. Bryce is more like Tua and Paul like Mac. Wow! The coaches are very confident in their QB room. I expect Bryce to start all spring and summer and into the season. I expect both to play in first two games and whoever starts at the end of the Florida game, will be your starter. Regardless who starts, we have to get both ready.

Bumped in honor of Bama's likely first Heisman winning QB.

In light of this thread Carlton, Robot, bear, 1RTR, BLG, FWBF all deserve part of that Heisman as true believers!

The word "generational" gets tossed around a lot these days, but Young was no doubt a generational player at a powerhouse program.

I remember when we had titles and no Heisman winners. Goal is the Natty but I do believe Heisman helps in recruiting. Remember when people would ask why any QB or WR would ever go to Bama? Julio changed it all.
