From Tim Watts:

quote:

Today is the last day for BamaOnLine.com at 247Sports. Our future destination will be announced in the near future. I was asked, and respected the request, to wait until today to officially announce it.

Travis, Charlie, and I will be leaving, and the brand BamaOnline.com (BOL) and the BOL Round Table Message Board Community will be moving to a new home.

Joining On3 at midnight tonight from the internet chatter.

ETA:

On a sidenote. Hank South will not be making the move with us. Instead, he will be moving to the 247 Texas site. Hank will always be a close friend and someone I respect. But covering his alma mater is a great move for him. He lives in Austin. He's going to great in the Texas market. He did a great job for us and is a great guy.

That sucks. Always liked Hank.

This is why I can’t understand why anyone would buy a business from Shannon Terry. He sells the business, waits for the do not compete clause to expire, then creates a very similar business with a few tweaks and steals back the old staff that did well for him

Now to hope On3 will eventually not look like an old AOL message board

I can only imagine that he gets away with it because the big companies he sells to are too big and slow to realize its the same thing every time.

I'd guess BOL ends up at ON3, but not sure if it would be a merger with BamaInsider or how that would work.

Who couldn't see this happening?

At this point these things are basically con money grabs.

They have been that for like 15+ years. BOL has always been blessed with decent reporters, but there are a ton out there that are just straight up bullshite artists who take in subscription fees, make pie in the sky predictions, are inevitably wrong, make vague accusations of cheating by another school, and continue taking in subscription fees. See every LSU pay site in existence.

No integrity. And we reward it, which is why they are able to continue doing it

Always liked Hank and hope it works out for him. I know it's a job but it must be strange to cover a certain team for so long and then move on to cover another in the same league. It's only human to start to root for the team you cover even if you weren't originally a fan.

Curious why he didn't move to On3. Wonder if he had a spot or if 247 was offering more money to cover Texas.

I remember when Rivals got TideSports in February 2011 and we had the great migration to other Bama Boards, namely WoollyAL.

The history of Bama websites would be interesting. I remember being in college, going to the computer lab at night so I could debate on ESPN chat why Jay Barker should win the Heisman in 1994 lol.

The first Bama message board I remember, mid 90s, was SuperBama.com...which somehow morphed into Bamamag.com a few years later I think. That was my msg board for years and years until being banned about 4 years ago for something stupid. I guess it's no longer even around, bought, folded into something, maybe it was 24/7...quit following the site.

You have to have a lot of respect for what he accomplishes as a business man. Thats pretty epic.

So is everyone what was a member going to follow BOL over to On3, or are you going to stick around with the new Bama247 site to give McNair and the new guys a shot, or do both?

I was going to keep both just for Paramount+, but then I saw I also get it free with my Walmart+ account.

Probably going to cancel my 247 VIP access until the new guys show they have legit info.

Read where they had employed Mike Rodak so that would be a deal killer for me.

Contact Form for anyone who wants to cancel their 247 subscription

They don't have an immediate cancel process so you have to contact them using the form above and they allegedly will cancel it.

ETA: They already canceled my request. They gave me 3 months of free VIP access through the end of October to entice me to stay.

That should be plenty of time to determine if they are putting out a decent product with the BOL team moving on.

Shots are already being fired at Talty for his B. Miller coverage while at AL.com. Bringing on Talty and Rodak to the Bama site might not have been the best move by 247.

I saw that.

It's been a bloodbath.
