Bond is a top end slot receiver. He will do very well with Ewers throwing to him in Sark’s offense. You add in the money and fringe benefits Texas’ NIL collective put on the table, it was a sensible choice.
I think DeBoer will be better for the WRs but he doesn’t have a proven QB on the roster. He was not sure about the offense with Milroe and almost left before Saban retired. He decided to bounce when the GOAT retired.
It sucks. Sometimes you’re taking GT’s best skill player or Vandy’s best OL, sometimes Texas takes your best WR. Thankfully we’ve won more than we’ve lost in the portal and I hope that trend continues. The sport needs fixing but for now it is just cope with it or die.

It is only going to get worse. In the coming 3-4 years you will have tee times on Saturday not think nothing of it.
The only question is how long will the High Dollar boosters continue to send their money to the schools?
The player recruiting pool will get worse each year. Mama got that hand out from day one.

Isaiah Bond, TYFYS and good luck.
Now that this is over we can focus on the folks in the room.

Penix was fantastic for Indiana with DeBoer as OC but could not finish a season there due to injuries.

Is what it is and everyone is going to have to deal with this because it’s basically free agency out there right now.

Absolutely.
I coached for 20 years, so I understand business decisions in sports. These guys have generational wealth hanging in the balance, and it's all very fragile and fleeting. Being in the right situation, staying healthy, and proper development are crucial.
If you guys are fine putting an Alabama signee on the bench to take a portal player from GT, UGA, or wherever, then don't get pissed when a player puts Bama "on the bench" to go to elsewhere.

To hell with him. That was REALLY fast work just dipping out like that. That shows an obvious lack of team loyalty, and right now that needs to be up there for our recruiting process.

I expect Willie to gif this with IB coming up wearing a UT Jersey with a bag of $ in his hand, Followed by Bama fan crying.

This is what college football has become. Dude could have been legend, fondly remembered by Bama fans who weren’t even alive when The Gravedigger happened. Hell, even an idiot like me could have turned that into a lifetime subsidy.
Now his name will be dust in the mouths of Bama fans.
Maybe he followed the money, but how much more is he going to make off of this move than had he stayed and been #1 in Grubb offense? Is it gonna be enough? Maybe so.
And no, I don’t wish the best for him. Everything about this move has been classless.
Next man up.

I promise you Bonds commitment to Texas is a lot more about Jalen Milroe than it is our new coach
Posted on 1/14/24 at 8:44 pm to chefrossi
True. The body language from our receivers on pass plays spoke volumes just as Jalen Hurts receivers.

"I promise"
You don't know shite dude
Jalen Milroe was responsible for cementing this kid in Bama lore, and then a week later he caught passes on huge plays from Jalen Milroe to help us beat the number 1 team and win a sec championship. Let's not act like Bond didnt get exposure that most WRs never come close to getting in their career with big help from Jalen Milroe.
Dude left because he's chasing money. That is what most of these kids are all about these days. It is what it is, Isaiah Bond won't make or break our season in 2024. Wish him the best.

It was about a Lambo and cash money. This the world we live in now. Like Saban said months ago, we need some guard rails like every other professional league has. But right now, we've got unregulated capitalism, and it is who will be willing to spend the most $$$ on key assets that will succeed. Hate it, but that's what it's become.

What loyalty do fans have to players? If UA could replace anyone on the roster with someone better out of the portal, you guys would be all for it.
Loyalty? It's non-existent both ways. The players want money and opportunities, and the fans want wins and championships. The players don't give frick whose uniform they wear if provided with the best opportunity available, and the fans don't give a frick who wears the uniforms as long as they win games.
Am I right?
I don't think you are
Fans make everything that is available to athletes and coaches possible. Bond doesn't get a free ride ( school and car..) without the anticipation of 100k paying to sit in the sun. Nick doesn't get paid either. The payers...are the bosses. And college is funny... They can be bad but your not supposed to call "kids" out for bad play, just shut up and cheer.... That doesn't work for the local restaurant that serves bad food - you aren't expected to be loyal to the restaurant. I'm not saying that Alabama has been bad. I will say it isn't as good and yet demands are made on the fans and there is no shortage of loyalty in the fanbase. Additionally the part about money and opportunities ...Bond started every game? Was significant on the biggest stage for the biggest name in CFB. Opportunities exist ...so it has to be about the money

Oh well. One Wr doesn’t make or break Alabama football.
Imagine Alabama without Julio, Calvin R., Amari Cooper, Devontae Smith, Jameis W., Bond in the AU game?
Do you still have that opinion?
