Seeing this on SECr, and wondering if it’s just speculation.

I haven't seen anything official, but usually players like that sit in the bowl game.

When he was asked after the Iron Bowl he said he hadn't decided yet, but I think it's pretty safe to assume him and Will Anderson are for sure sitting out unless we somehow make the CFP.

It is speculation at this point but I would certainly advise him not to play

How do you know by speculating that? I don't think they sit out.

No reason for a top 5 pick to play in a meaningless bowl. Look what happened to Notre Dame LB, Jaylon Smith.

Nothing is impossible and none should blame them if they did. But I'd kind of be surprised if Bryce sat out given how he approaches his leadership role on the team.

Although, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the young players get reps for next year.

Purely speculation at this point, but I think most players in his position would sit out the bowl

I think he, Will Anderson, possibly a couple more will sit out.
Especially if it's the Sugar Bowl on the turf.
Players hate playing on that hard arse surface anyway.

Usually I resent players sitting out. This instance is an exception, because Bryce is one of the only players who has brought his best effort on every snap. I'd advise him not to risk injury when many of his teammates on defense can't be bothered to run full speed or initiate contact consistently.

I'd imagine so. Will give us 3 weeks practice with the 2 kids and a chance to see one of them (hopefully both, but I doubt it) play a full game with install for them and lots of practice.

He'll be questioned regardless of the decision he makes. I figured they would make an injury announcement by now. Maybe they're waiting for the final standings.

Seems like they would announce now if that's their plan I mean why wait unless they plan to play.

I'd imagine they are waiting until it is official that we are going to a non-playoff bowl game. No inside info, just my guess.

Like injury status, it provides a significant advantage to the other teams.

Teams have to plan to scheme for Anderson. And, a BY run offense is entirely different than a Milroe offense. The latter may need every bit of advantage and element of surprise to be successful in a NY6 bowl.

Certainly might be wrong, but as I said the other day to Boz, expect 4-6 guys sit out the bowl game along with several transfer announcements. Bryce, Will, Gibbs and Battle to sit out with maybe a couple others. I'm sure Saban has requested the announcement of the guys sitting to wait until after this weekend but it's coming.
I think it's important to go ahead and get the coaching changes going because the transfer season is about to explode and we need coaches in place to start pulling in players. Especially with the Auburn staff getting put into place, we can't afford to drag the coordinator stuff out too long.

He and Will Anderson have no reason to play in a bowl game. You can’t take that monetary risk and I hope all of our fans will support them in that decision.

Could also backfire with changes before ESD given the relationships they have with recruits.

It's possible but I think we could gain more from recruits seeing a top level coordinator coming in. No one is coming here thinking BoB is staying anyway. If a defensive player has committed, it's more for Saban than Golding anyway. Don't seeing us losing anything by dumping these coordinators.
