I expect this to be a close game, for most of the game at least. But honestly, that excites me even more than if we were playing Florida, or Kentucky or someone that we would surely beat the hell out of.

I'll see what the deal in and check back in later in the week. Would definitely be up for that if we can figure it out.

This. Our rush defense has to be the best its been all year. I expect Georgia to run the ball and burn clock to keep the ball away from Tua.

The offense will have limited chances, I think, and needs to take advantage of every chance.

I think it'll be low scoring

I think the way Georgia runs could give Alabama some fits.

Holyfield seems like he likes to bounce around a bit so he doesn't scare me too much. But Swift is that one cut type of back that when given room, can run a straight line to the end zone from anywhere on the field.

He reminds me a lot of Zeke. They can both do more than this, but both are GREAT at and prefer to put a foot in the ground and be running full speed through a hole and be at full speed when they hit the next level of the defense. Swift and Zeke are both incredible at getting skinny when hitting the hole.

When even 1 defender is out of position, this type of running results in huge plays and long TDs. I'm not sure if Alabama has faced a running style like this yet.

You have to think that one of the main focuses in practice this week is defending against that disgusting inside cut that Swift has, and staying disciplined, and sound when he gets the ball.

I'm watching Swift's highlights now and it looks SO similar to how Ohio State was attacking Alabama in NO.

I would agree if healthy but I'm worried about the health of our OL which no one seems to talk about. Ben Cleveland is by far our best OG and he's been gimpy/out for damn near a month. If he DOES play it won't be full strength and likely not start. In his place we'll start a true freshman. At LG Kindley is good enough but not elite. LT and C I have no concerns about. Our RT is also a freshman and has played well. We saw last year though (with a better oL than what we'll have saturday) that we can hold off bama's DL for a while but eventually those elite freakazoids you always have will start to take over. Last yera it was d. payne that started shifting the game and we had no answer, this year we have to deal with Q. If we can't get a good push up front to extend drives we'll be in for a very long day.

The good news is this defense is much, much more athletic than that 2014 defense was.

The bad news is Swift is terrifying and Fromm is very good. They'll give our defense issues.

If it wasn't for injuries, we would have held that run game fine and were doing pretty well until a freshman MLB had to come in and missed the tackle on Zeke's 75 yard run.

That being said, this is a very different type of defense and I'm not sure it is on the same level in terms of defending against the run.

I'm always kind of worry wart so take my opinion with a grain of salt but I'm extremely nervous about Saturday. UGA has a very efficient offense and they are confident in what they are doing. Their strength on defense matches up with our strength. They know that they can hang with us.

I was pretty confident going into the LSU game because I looked at the LSU offense and didn't see any playmakers and that included Burrow. This week, I see playmakers.

The funny thing is that I'm pretty sure I made the claim "If we roll into Baton Rouge and win by 21+, nobody will stop us." That was following UGA getting run out of the stadium against LSU. But like a lot of championship-caliber teams, UGA seems to have gotten a sense of urgency after dropping that game. This isn't the same UGA team that screwed around with Tennessee, Mizzou, etc.

Having said all of that, we have the better team, coaches, and have a larger room for error than UGA. UGA's pass rush will have to be on point all day if they want to slow down Tua. Their OL hasn't seen a DL like our's. I expect us to win.

I didn't realize y'all were having health trouble on the line. Still, that's what I'm most worried about in the game.

LF7 and LSU played right into Alabama's hand. LF was SO athletic that if his first read wasn't there, he could stop and bounce it outside or dance around the backfield and by that time, Alabama had just MURDERED the line of scrimmage and the play was going backwards.

Y'all seem to be more specific with where the run should go. If it gets blown up, that's fine. Just put your head down and get whatever is there. But when the OL blocks correctly, Swift is FLYING through the hole. LF did basically the opposite of that.

It's hard to be TOO worried with Alabama's offense, though. The defense is good enough that entering every game, I feel like there's a point total that Alabama just needs to reach to make it just about impossible for the opponent to win. Like, I don't think 31 points is too much to ask for from UA's offense. And if they hit that, it SHOULD be really hard for UGA to win.

I was approached by a Dog fan early last week and he asked if "Bama was even worried about UGA!" I told him that from a team standpoint, they had their sights on the Barn and no one else. Even though Saban has likely had our analysts breaking Kirby down since we locked our spot.
I then told him from a personal viewpoint, No! While they are good, they don't have the defense they had last year. They lost tons of experience on that side of the ball and you can't just make that up. Also, Tua is just that special and only gotten tons better since that January night. I told him that Quinnen Williams had become that monster on the front to replace Payne. While down a couple of guys, I explained that our defense was perhaps healthier now than at any point.
I think I hurt his feelings!!

UGA is the most explosive team in the country but they struggle in the red zone. LINK

As stated, our defense will have to be on point and limit those big plays.

I don't know about all that but I guess it depends on how you measure the explosion. I'm pretty sure we have more plays for 40 or more yards, and probably more plays for 20 or more yards

Yep - though I'd disagree slightly with Bill's subtitle there. UGA is pretty equal to us in UGA O vs Bama D and UGA Pass D vs Bama Pass O (generally), but their rush D is clearly not equal to our rush O.......and we have a massive advantage in rushing the passer (both preventing it on offense and doing it on defense).

I will say, and this kind of fits with the entire season, I look at the S&P+ sub-stats and then look at the "overall" stat and it doesn't quite add up to me. If I just looked at the stats I posted in another thread, I'd probably guess Alabama was expected to win by 6-8 pts.........not 3.

But hey, who knows. And either way, the metrics say Georgia definitely has the goods to take us down if we don't get after it.
