If you think "Roll Tide" is safe from the purge, I have some sad news.

Especially when you consider our nickname didn't develop until the 1910s and had everything to do with the crimson mud being turned up by the teams in a driving rain storm. We were the Cadets, then the Varsity, then the Thin Red Line, until we finally settled on the Crimson Tide.

That's the point
Gator Bait is not one single inch more or less a reach than Roll Alabama Roll.
UF's press statement basically said it's association is just as loose. Which should sound alarm bells.

Does this also mean changing the name of the state?
If so... it’s going to be a pain in the arse. New drivers license, fishing license, hunting license, tags, gun conceal permit, and a whole lot of other shite I can’t think of right now.

To the rest of the Internet, Roll Tide equals Alabama and incest. They have no clue it has any other relation

Rammer Jammer might be on the cutting block. The term Yellow Hammer is not just referring to the state bird. It’s the nickname of confederate soldiers from northern Alabama.

Roll Alabama, roll, is not "Roll Tide".

Ah yes, the paranoid mentality of scared white men. "They takin our roll tide!"

Ummm, so is the “gator bait” thing not happening right now? Maybe “roll tide” won’t specifically be targeted this time, but the point is “gator bait” is equally as dumb to ban.

Florida overreacted based on fears that one of their chants would be unduly associated with a deplorable practice. I don't think "the title of a Civil War sailing song has Roll in it" is going to prompt enough of a response from anyone to threaten Roll Tide.
Ole Miss on the other hand is totally fricked and about to lose pretty much everything. Tigers (the LSU version) and War Eagle may be on the chopping block, and Clemson is probably going to become South Carolina A&M.

No... baiting for gators with black kids is well beyond whatever the frick OP posted.

It's much different. I think it's a reach, as the Gator Bait cheer clearly has absolutely zero historical crossover with the old, racist "Gator Bait" images and sayings re: using little black kids as bait for Gators, but there is at least crossover between the two. And it's not just "civil war sort of", it's a specific racist thing to the state of Florida.

Yeah we are probably safe. Dixieland Delight might have to take one for the team, again, but that'd probably be the extent of losses related to the athletics program.
The one I'm really interested to see play out is Clemson. The town and university are named after the ex-Confederate who founded them and are literally built on John C. Calhoun's former estate.

At what point do leaders start standing up to these trust fund radicals and tell them to STFU?

Sadly they will continue on this path and continue trying to change everything they can get away with. Be prepared for your re-education camps.

Fun fact: The city of Seattle is asking its white employees to voluntarily spend their day off in a training about their internalized racial superiority. I’ve got the documentation on it.
