I saw where G Mac is all bowed up over people saying he dislikes UA. I know this topic has been discussed but I guess I’m amazed that McElroy is actually surprised people feel this way.

There’s a saying, “We sometimes don’t see ourselves as others see us.” and I think that applies to him in spades.

I get it, he does NOT work for UA or the Crimson Tide Sports Network and that for him to be credible in his job, he has to try to be objective/non biased.

HOWEVER, in his quest to appear to be non biased, he never, ever misses an opportunity to make some subtle or not so subtle jabs at Alabama. Rece Davis can be objective effortlessly. Greg, not so much.

Greg would be better suited studying Rece Davis’s style if he wants to be taken seriously.

Okay, sorry for the rant.

GMac has been really good on his radio show. Cubelic is much more favorable to Bama than he is to Auburn. GMacs biggest mistake was responding to trolls

Hey folks, it's all an act for views and clicks. Show business is not real life.

People saying McElroy doesn't like Bama are insane.

He literally won a national championship as the starting QB.

Just because he's not Roll Tide Willy screaming about how Bama is going to kick arse doesn't mean he's not a fan. He's got a job that requires him to sometimes be critical, and that's fine.

It's like family. Do I agree with all the decisions made by my family? No. Do I criticize them sometimes? Yes. Am I still intensely loyal to them even in times that I am unhappy with them? Yes.

That's how logical, loyal fans act. The love is there at all times. Doesn't mean it's sunshine and roses everyday.

Nah. That's not his schtick. He's looking for a different sort of attention. He has big-time broadcast aspirations.

This, plus he called Shank and apologized directly. He admitted that he was emotional and said some stupid things.

The funny thing is is that people on here will rail on our players, coaches, team, program, etc. without thinking twice. But when McElroy has an opinion that might not be pro-Tide, people want to act like he hates Bama.

If you've ever listened to him and Cubelic's show in the morning then you'd know that the dude is a Bammer through and through.

He shouldn't worry about it. Herbstreit has his haters among Ohio State fans for many of the same reasons.

Heaven forbid the man is objective while working for a network that somewhat requires it.

Greg is trying to be a professional analyst. He wants to be Kirk Herbstreit. I don't blame him. He doesn't have to take up for Bama. That's not his job.

I simply disagree with many of his takes. Has nothing to do with Bama or not.

Love the guy as a player.

Greg putting Shank on blast was bullshite. It was a low class move.

You want to make a living in the BHAM market doing radio you need to have thicker skin.

He said a guy that was on the Joe Moore award winning line was known for being the laziest guy on the team but that he also didn't remember him even playing at Alabama.

That's not being objective, that's being an a-hole.

I agree. I listen to him and Cublic driving to work every day. Gmac has been about as positive about Ala football as anyone lately. And at the start of the coaching search, Gmac said there were 4 candidates, but only one was being seriously considered, and that was the one we hired. Gmac said Alabama would not pay the 30 million buy out for Lanning. He said Alabama could not out bid Texas for their coach, so he was eliminated, and he said for some reason Ala fans dont want the fsu coach, and that does matter in a coaching search. He said from day one, the Washington coach was the target. This morning he went on and on about how big the Williams commitment was. Cole Cublic is the one that you can hardly tell is an auburn fan--most of the time.

I was stunned when Greg said that yesterday, and thought it was beneath him. To his credit, he did apologize on-air this morning and said he was out of line.

I like Gmac but I feel like anyone invested in Bama's run the past 15 years would know who Shank is.

Shank said they've settled their differences. Time for fans to get over it as well.

I think most of that sensitivity is on the receiver's bias. Non-Bama fans hear him and call him a homer. We hear him and call him a traitor attempting to sell-out to appear non-bias.

Same with Herbie and tOSU fans.

Same with any Danielson called game. Both sets of fans can listen to the same broadcast and come away calling him a homer of the other team.

Greg McElroy was utterly classless for saying that about a 2-year starter at OG.

I've always defended him against people that try to act like he's a Bama hater. It is a ridiculous argument. He's not Tyler Watts on CTSN. He's the 2nd or 3rd cfb crew's color commentator for ESPN and a sports talk host for WJOX. The majority of the audience is not tuning in to hear him do cheerleading for his alma mater.

However, what he said about Taylor made me lose a bit of respect for him. I think it could hurt his relationships and the candor of discussion he has with other coaches around the nation in his national commentator job. Now some coaches got to think he's a guy who will shoot off his hip and say things mentioned in confidence. Especially if he feels attacked.
