Greg must have really lost his composure to start calling names in his rant.

Not a good look.

My only issue with McElroy is that he seems to get a lot of satisfaction out of being openly dismissive of anyone who does not share his opinion on a given subject. Smug is not a good look on anyone.

I have always thought he wants to be cool like Herbie.

The problem is he is trapped in the personality as the kid sitting in the front of the class, answering all the questions while trying to be the smartest kid in the room.

I like McElroy. He tries to be fair and still be an Alabama guy. That’s not always easy. But his take on the Proctor stuff was wrong. Iowa tampered. And then going after fans and former players calling him out is even worse.

NO ONE has ever called G Mac a Bama homer. NEVER.

And folks on here claiming he’s being “objective” apparently seldom, if ever, listen to the guy.

Greg sucks.

A lot of former QBs suck. Give me an O lineman all day. I want someone who will explain things. Former QBs are usually bad at explaining why a play worked or why a scheme will succeed against a certain look. Not sure why that is, but it seems when watching a broadcast the guys that explain things instead of simply retelling things are not QBs.

"He fakes the handoff, throws it across the field, and boom, touchdown" - Yeah, no shite, I saw that too.

"He fakes the handoff, makes the MLB come inside just enough and then throws it to the open man who is open now because the slot receiver created space by running his man out of the play." - Ahh, so that's why the play worked.

Most announcers just do the first one. I'd rather listen to Cole Cubelic explain what happened instead of just narrating the play. Herbstreit is one of the rare QBs that seems to do a good job with that.

There are many fans who embarrass themselves by losing all sense of objectivity, then they get furious when anyone is objective. To these people, every single announcer, official, NCAA investigator, anyone in any position of even minute influence really is biased against their team.

Outside of this, and this was not a shot at Alabama, but at a player “using Alabama”, what exactly has Greg said bad about Alabama? Seriously? People talk about “jabs”, and “trying to be non-bias”. Give me some examples? He doesn’t make a living off JOX. He’s not trying to be Kirk herbstriet, he already is herbstriet, he just has to wait it out until herbstriet is gone. And if that doesn’t work out, he’s a Rhodes scholar. I mean, at least he’s not Jay Barker over here facing felonies and crap. Although, it was super apparent Alabama means a lot to Jay. Probably has a lot to do with him being an in state guy.

And he is not trying to be objective. He HAS to be objective or the other talking heads that sit on set with him will eat his lunch. And if IRC he’s always had our back related to getting into the playoffs.

Just because he's not Roll Tide Willy screaming about how Bama is going to kick arse doesn't mean he's not a fan. He's got a job that requires him to sometimes be critical, and that's fine.

Huge difference between not being Roll Tide willy and being anti-Alabama at EVERY turn. Absolutely no reason to go after Taylor other than he was triggered by someone defending Alabama.

Take him off the pre-game highlight montage NOW. Benedict Arnold was a highly respected officer before he did what he did.

McElroy was a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship so it's a safe bet he IS the smartest guy in the room. Be that as it may, he was out of line for what he said about Shank Taylor. Even assuming his criticism of Taylor's work ethic is true, a man should handle that business privately instead of putting it out there in the public arena.

HOWEVER, in his quest to appear to be non biased, he never, ever misses an opportunity to make some subtle or not so subtle jabs at Alabama. Rece Davis can be objective effortlessly. Greg, not so much.

I don't doubt that he is but acting like it all the time isn't an endearing personality trait.
