Would trade a few Bama alums for Barkley. Love the guy. He's one of the most honest and reasonable sports figures out there. The guy cares about the state of Alabama.

Come to think of it... we’re in a day and age where entertainment is taking a back seat to professionalism. Who cares if a broadcaster wants to pull for their alma mater.
I also think Herbstreit not being able to make a prediction on the game he calls is dumb too.

Yeah it’s not really fair to compare the two. Charles is a legend at auburn and is mostly a pro analyst. Whenever auburn does good he can come back and be a fan all day and it doesn’t matter. McElroy has a job as an analyst for CFB. And while you can argue he goes out of his way to be too objective (he has annoyed me sometimes but I think it’s WAY overblown) in the end he does a good job

So I guess we're going to give McElroy the Jay Barker treatment because he doesn't suck Alabama's dick on ESPN?
We're forgetting something that should be keenly obvious to anyone with a brain. Charles Barkley is gainfully employed by Turner Broadcasting and reports almost exclusively on the NBA. College basketball isn't his usual beat. He can be a homer because of this. McElroy is a color analyst for ESPN during college football season. Do you see Kirk Herbstreit or Todd Blackledge pumping up their alma maters on a daily or even weekly basis during the season? I don't think so.

I’ve seen Herby show signs of mortality in this regard. Greg honestly does seem to go “Alabama? Ewww.” I wouldn’t care if it weren’t so disingenuous.
