I just think that the onside kick was *the play* of that game, personally.

Also, "lower tier" is in context to the greatest plays so it is more like S+ Tier and then S Tier.

While I agree that the onside kick was of particular noteworthiness and remembrance for the balls, the surprise, the way it helped turn the tide, and for Saban's Jackass-eating-briars grin afterwards, but I, personally, love and watch football to see and appreciate ultra high-level physical achievement and domination, and a coast-to-coast kickoff return for 6 in the 4th Quarter of a National championship game trumps an onside kick that merely resulted in a "turnover", particularly when the announcer says, "Watch out! Kenyan Drake can fly!", who then breaks the Bama player GPS land speed record at the time and literally flies at the end for a TD in spectacular fashion into the pylon cam.

Winner by a country light-year.

I don't see how it's not in the top 5 or 10 plays in Bama history.

If you're gonna start with 1990, then start with this.

Far greater than most mentioned, along with Harrison's block, yet most of you are obviously not old enough to remember.

Lol. I was a Freshman. I wasn't there, but I'll never forget the cheering you could hear all over campus.

Stacey Harrison was one of my favorite early players. Dude was a bad arse who played with a lot of attitude that was a precursor to the 92 defense.

Doyle running around Neyland taunting the Vol fans was priceless.

We disagree, but I just want to put out there that I was not the one who downvoted you.

No worries, Fells. I appreciate you saying that, but neither upvotes nor downvotes matter - the only real participation involves actually replying and typing something.

Rudd’s interception return against Michigan

Barker to Sherman against Ohio State

Pretty much any of Deuce’s punt return TDs

Thinking outside the box:

JPW to Matt Caddell in 2007 to beat Arkansas(meant more then due to the state of the program)

DJ Hall's 3 on 1 catch against Tennessee in 2006.

I agree. Game was somewhat in doubt and that point. Coker channeled his one Roethlisberger on that one for sure. If I had to sum up Jake on one play, that would be it.

Good call. If I had to pick one play to sum up what a Saban coached team looks like, this would be it. Up by three or four scores in the 4th of the Natty and the 3 year starting QB and the 4 year starting o lineman about to throw paws over getting the play off. THEPROCESS.

While of very little significance, Prothro's behind-the-opponent's-helmet catch against USM:

We were losing to a kid who led my h.s. to 4 fricking wins... 4. While insignificant to most, it was killing me. I was literally in the back bedroom at my best friend's place solo power drinking before that play. Had about 4 people come running when i started cursing up a storm when it was initially ruled incomplete. They thought i was on the phone about to go murder someone

No Burgdorf to Malone from 35 yards out on 4th down with seconds to play against S Miss in '95?

Can’t believe it took so long for this play to be mentioned.

As a young Bama fan who had struggled through the DuBose years, this play and the XP retry made my passion reach fanatic levels.

Also Freddie Milon’s TD run and Reggie Grimes intercepton returned for a TD against them in the SEC championship. Before Saban, those plays defined my childhood as peak Gumpdom.

And I’m not ashamed to admit I cried when we missed the XP against Michigan. Come at me.
