Its an extremely long shot, but I suppose anything is possible. I would get horny from the melts though.

I have been saying that for a week now.

We just need a couple teams to drop some games and we're back in the conversation. Literally no one had to play away at 5 ranked teams.

We did and we only lost by a total of four points in two games, one of which everyone knows we were badly robbed.

We can squeeze in if we have some losses and I expect USC to lose. LSU will lose one as well. Now we need help on TCU and Michigan.

If we get that it will be Clemson and a 21-point loss (they could lose to NC) versus us and one loss in regular time (one in overtime).

Most importantly we need Bill O'Brien hired away immediately after Auburn

I absolutely agree with the point about how difficult our road games were - playing 3 ranked teams (2 top 10 teams, and 1 with top 10 talent) on the road with 100,000+ in attendance is fricking brutal.

That being said, Alabama is absolutely not going to the playoffs this year. No chance whatsoever. And to be honest, we don't really deserve it.

It is what it is.

There is no way 3 teams from the SEC are going to the playoffs. UA will not jump UT which if some of the aove scenarios were to happen would put UT in the playoffs as the second team from the SEC.

There is no scenario in which a two loss Bama is going to the playoffs with UT sitting there with 1 loss.

We would be behind:
1 loss UM or OSU
TCU
1 loss Clemson with a conference championship
UGA
UT

Anyone playing that game needs to move on to the acceptance stage and internalize that this was a lost season.

I don’t think we make it but the melt would destroy the dinosaurs twice. It would destroy the sun. Like universal melt of ages. It would be absolutely hilarious.

Yeah people need to accept it at this point.

That's why we need this to happen.

Anyways, nothing wrong with hoping and believing till the end. It's always odd the same fans who bitch about players quitting quit on their teams the fastest.

The article is right, but we’re also playing Austin Peay right now and the whole team looks like they’ve clocked out for the year.

Bama isn't mathematically eliminated, but it would need 4+ of the following to occur to have a shot: OSU or Mich losing 2 games, TCU losing 1 and not winning conference or losing 2 games, UTk losing 3, LSU losing another, and Pac and ACC champ having 2+ losses

Not impossible, but it seems highly unlikely.

And, after the last couple of weeks, I'd honestly not like to see the team go be #4 seed fodder for UGA or tOSU.

It's pretty impossible. Folks hanging their hopes on a playoff berth need to instead hope the team wins next week and has a good showing in whatever bowl game we get.

A win in a good bowl with many of next year's starters on the field is better in the long run than having this team lose to whoever they would draw in the playoff. Some of you are totally delusional about where this team is. I note it's the same people who talked about how fired up and focused the team was after the Tennessee loss.

So wait a second. After the TN loss, we really just need SC to beat Clemson which looks entirely possible all of a sudden, and Oregon to beat USC which is entirely possible. And TCU to choke which is probable.

Boys, it's starting to look like the playoffs are legitimately within reach...

TN dropping a game was actually the craziest thing we needed to keep our hopes alive

I agree. There is a strange path to get in, but overall I like 11-2 with an Orange/Sugar win way better than a likely CFP loss. I would be more than pleased with that considering how this season could have gone

FWIW at least one guy at SI agrees with CFP chances

Not Dead Yet For CFP: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Alabama 34, Austin Peay 0
