The thing that happened is the media was arrayed against it because it was Bama standing to benefit and Bediako got dogpiled into giving it up.

Trying to do it mid-season instead of over the summer didn’t help that narrative either. I'd have a lot less of a problem with it if the only other players who have gotten adverse rulings hadn't been a degenerate gambler and some, but not all, of the guys trying to stay in college for like an 8th season. Pruett probably patted himself on the back and felt like a real big man for doing what he did though, so there's that silver lining.
