Remember when he burst onto the scene and nobody could figure out how the hell he was such an elite recruiter out of nowhere?

This makes me wonder if Dan Patrick was actually right about UGA.

I have been told that Doug Marrone is a name to watch closely for the offensive line opening. In fact I have spoke to multiple sources this morning who believe he will be targeted by Saban and Bill O'Brien (who hasn't been officially announced but he's on the job). I am NOT saying its a done deal, with one of the sources saying Marrone could have other options he will mull over, but they did think that is who UA will target and he could end up in Tuscaloosa. Marrone was recently let go as the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach but he has extensive OL experience at such places as GT, UGA, UT, NY Jets and the NO Saints. Also with a few head coaching stops. There could be other targets emerge and we have a few of them listed in a pinned story but Marrone could be the first target for Nick Saban.

Does Saban know that Stout is staying in the NFL or does he prefer Marrone I wonder.

Could be either - I'm guessing that the Marrone/O'Brien relationship and experience is a pretty big factor (and probably the only reason Marrone is considering it).

Who really knows. Maybe Stoutland prefers to stay in the NFL (which wouldn't shock anyone), or maybe O'Brien wants Marrone since they have worked together in the past. Or maybe Stoutland is still in play. I would be estatic with either to be honest.
When I sit back and really think about it, it is pretty darn crazy that Saban could possible add two freaking NFL head coaches to his staff. Pretty darn crazy to think about.

"I was told Tennessee is on the clock of being investigated,” Patrick said. “Next in the on deck circle — Georgia. I was told Georgia got sloppy this year in recruiting or maybe it's been a couple of years but the NCAA is looking at Georgia as well. Just something to keep an eye on. Everything that I'm telling you is what I was told yesterday by my source.”
Patrick, the former ESPN SportsCenter anchor who also co-hosted NBC’s Football Night in America, continued.
“Maybe there's nothing at Tennessee, there's nothing at Georgia, I can only tell you what is happening in real time behind the scenes here,” he said.

I wonder when we are going to officially hire Bill O'Brien.

Last few years most new staff hasn't been announced until sometime in February.

LINK ]Report: Doug Marrone emerges as a ‘serious’ candidate for Alabama offensive line coach opening (247Sports)
Reality setting in for UT fans as they learn the guy they like as a candidate to replace Pruitt is more likely to become Bama's OL coach.

I'm sure BOB and Marrone will do a good job as assistant coaches but I'm concerned about their recruiting.
Maybe they will do better than expected.
We've already seen what happens when you let up 1-2 years in recruiting, particularly at the OL position.

D. Ryans is the new DC at SF.
Good for him. Would have loved to see him at Bama again though.
