Hard to tell. He was only there from 2012-2013. He was an NFL guy before and after Penn St. Not sure he's going to be very dedicated to recruiting especially if he's only planning on being at Bama 1-2 years max. He's a northeastern guy. Don't see him sticking around long.

I wonder if Mark Ingram still has a desire to continue playing. He just got cut by the Ravens. I wonder if he'd have any interest to come back to Tuscaloosa and start a coaching career.

Did Mark ever come back and finish his degree like a few guys have? He'd have to do that before he could be hired even if he has any desire to go into coaching.

Yeah, you're right. I'm honestly not sure if he ever got his degree.

Mark is not getting into coaching anytime soon. He's already looking forward to 2021 and I personally think he has 2 or 3 years left before he hangs up his cleats for good.

Sounds like the sips think they are about to hire the Huskies' DC. If that is the case, then I think it's pretty safe to assume that Golding is here to stay (and Saban told Sark to pound sand when it came to Pete).

He should ask Dan Enos how that career path worked out. IF he comes in and kills it, then ya, 1-2 years is all he'll need to get another great opportunity. Hopefully he is ready to hit the ground running and worry about things as they come.

I can count myself, but it's kind of wild how so many of us have been railing on Golding for 2 years and now sort of sweating a possible departure. Yeah, the defense had a reasonably good game vs Ohio State, but the SEC title game not so great.

Florida was the best offense we played all season and if the refs don't botch those to turnovers our defense forced we win that game by three touchdowns. I was reasonable satisfied with how Golding performed this season. I don't mind having him back.

Honestly I am surprised if you guys are worried if Golding is leaving.

Obviously the lack of pass rush has killed us against modern offenses, but still even in year 3 he leaves you scratching your head with some of the blitz calls.

I am still not convinced he is a top tier DC, I think Saban thinks he can mold him into one. But there is a reason he has stuck around this long...

Kwiatowski might be a good fit at Texas. He has a very good track record, including versus Mike Leach's prolific air-raid offense at Wazu. Air-raid is used by several Big12 teams, including OU. Horns 247 says he might be inclined to make the move in part due to friction with Jimmy Lake's level of control of the defense.

Maybe we keep Golding and hire Pruitt as an analyst (initially).

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Who had a better defense than us last year? Maybe UGA? But even UGA gave up 40+ against us and UF.

The only game that I think our defense looked really bad in was the Ole Miss game. But in that game (and in a lot of those early games) we had very poor tackling. But what people forget is that we had no spring practice, and our summer practice was limited as well due to covid. So we weren't able to practice as much on tackling (and fundamentals in general) as we normally do. But as the season went on, our tackling and other fundamentals improved a lot. Oh, and as for the SECCG, I don't think any defense was going to hold UF under 40 in that game.

Saban has said over and over that in today's game the offenses are at such an advantage because of the rules. If a team has an elite QB that is on that day, there's not much a defense can really do.

And I think if you read all of the reports and rumors coming from different camps in regards to Texas' coaching search you'll see that Saban fought to keep Golding, and that the only way he would be willing to part with him is if he got a coach he felt was better, i.e. Pruitt. But since it appears that Pruitt can't be touched until the NCAA rules on him, he thinks Golding is the best option for us. I think Saban thinks more highly of Golding than a lot of our fans.

I’d rather have actual coaches at those two spots than recruiters. Besides, sark and flood weren’t primaries on a lot of their recruitments anyway. Just need to hire a dynamite recruiter to replace Huff

You may can argue that the 2020 defense is good under Golding by comparison to other defensive teams today, but you can’t argue it is good vs other Alabama defenses; just doesn’t pass the eye test.

3rd and Golding wasn’t just a joke, there was some real truth to it. Defense couldn’t get off the field in many cases this year where the opposing team was in 3rd and long. Defenses under Kirby and Pruitt were not like that.

Has the game changed? Maybe. Do you see a killer instinct on that side of the ball? Nah...it’s ain’t there, it’s missing. That’s coaching, not talent.

I really wanted Golding to follow Sark out the door. So disappointed.

Agreed - also, look at BoB's classes in his short time at Penn State under crippling probation and with one of the darkest if not the darkest cloud in college sports history hanging over his head.

He signed a bunch of NFL players on offense.

Yep and another good recruiter to replace Banks.

You clearly don't have a very good memory. Kirby rushing 4 on 3rd and long felt like a jailbreak blitz.

3rd and Kirby was most definitely a thing. And the defense not getting off the field this year on third and long is over blowing it. The only games that really happened with any kind of frequency was Ole Miss (which I admitted was a bad defensive game), and UF (which no team was able to stop when they had all their weapons).

Do you see a killer instinct on that side of the ball? Nah

Yeah, because killer instinct now gets you a 15 yard penalty and ejected out of the game.

And Saban obvious fought to keep Golding, so he obviously doesn't agree with you. I think I'll side with his opinion on this, but hey, that's just me.
